My regular "guilty pleasure" order. Skipping it for a while until I get back to my driver's license weight.

Chick-fil-A is opening in the Clark Street space long targeted for a Culver’s — and the Wisconsin-based burger franchise is shifting gears to open around the corner.

Culver’s franchise owner Baron Waller said Tuesday he plans to open the restaurant, known for its butter burgers and custard, by spring at 1111 W. Addison St.

I still wonder why Culver's hasn't opened in Deerfield where Bally's was. I keep picturing them there. I know there is one on Dundee and Sanders but there are others closer than that. Or how about one by us in HP?

I think the closest Culver's to you in HP is the one on Milwaukee Avenue in Lincolnshire, between 45 and 22.

That's the one we go to the most. It's not that far (10-15 minutes) but surprised there isn't one closer.

I have to admit I am not a fan of Culver's cheese curds anymore. The last few times I had them they were flavorless. I prefer the softer ones at Freddy's Steakburgers by far (if comparing two similar chains).

I’m in the same boat. I have nothing against MSG and use it regularly. But Culver’s curds taste like they were breaded with 50% Ajinomoto.

I have 30 minutes for lunch. Minimal choices. I knock out 4-5 single mushroom Swiss burgers a week. Mushroom provide the moisture and flavour /umami - 99% of fast food burgers lack. Can do a lot worse for $5.80. YMMV.

Culver’s Walleye for lunch. Crisp juicy meaty. Even better than remembered, and that was pretty good. Got the 3-piece dinner. Was full after one and a bit pieces. Little bit of salt buildup but less so than most fast food.

First went to Restaurant Depot for P'tit Basque at hyper reasonable price to share with the neighbor and Diamond kosher salt for me. No Diamond kosher on hand and the boxes of Morton have shrunk to 3-lbs.

That walleye is pretty solid. Happy the month or so it’s on the menu.

I’m still snarfing 2-3 mushroom Swiss burgers week Minooka, il is kind of a dead zone with 30 mins for lunch.
