What used to be the Maple Tree is like an old penny that has been shined up.

Still in the vein of your standard Greek diner but they have...

Turned up the quality a notch
Knocked down the menu a notch (Grrr... No open faced hot beef sandwiches)
    Upped the presentation a notch
    Raised the prices a notch

All in all we were very pleased with our visit!

    The Country Rigatoni
Nicely done. Pasta a touch overcooked but the sausage was nicely browned, the peppers sweet and the cheese nicely melted.

    The Grilled Pastrami
A good sized sandwich on marble rye. Tender but not as juicy as could be.

    The Lox Plate
Advertised for two and it was just that for My Bride. Everything fresh sliced to order.

All in all a good choice for a nice and simple meal downtown.

This is the part that puts me off, since it basically means they get all their food from the same places as countless other anonymous diners, but those pictures look OK. Still, it'd take a lot to sway me from the Depot.

Must admit, this place is indeed actually a step up. Subtle, I suppose, but a step up all the same. My wife had a solid stack of buckwheat pancakes. I had the lemon-ricotta blueberry pancakes. Both were pretty delicious, and the Intelligentsia coffee is def. not your usual Greek diner brew. I went here after several unsolicited breakfast recommendations, all of which started with a similar "you're not going to believe me, but this place isn't bad" pitch. So ... worth a shot!

    Neither is the Amish chicken.

I got to say, the menu looks kind of pedestrian but I plan to try this place soon (maybe even later today). It's great that Panther posted the menu; it's absolutely crazy for a restaurant, any restaurant, not to have a website where menus, hours, etc., are posted.
