Are the Texas hot links back? I recall having them around when B&C first opened and thought they were the best thing on the menu. Then they were gone one day. Now I see "Hickory smoked sausage" on the menu. Same thing?

    Yes.
Two links stand alone with fries and slaw, as part of our BBQ platter or The Memphis w/pulled pork, Monterey Jack and giardiniera on a roll run under the salamander.

    As a vegetarian,

I hope they did their forecasting. I don’t think that area will be flooded with “health conscious new customers. “ And I will go there, doesn’t Cité have the reputation of being one of the most expensive restaurants in the city with the worse food?

Cité is awful. We were there years ago and it looked like it had seen better days. The food is way overpriced and it seems to cater to suburbanites and tourists looking for a fantastic view in an "elegant" setting.

I'm not Barn's leading demo (many years removed from college) but have always thought the food was excellent (maybe save for wing night where they just had to keep bringing them out.)

Do you need to expressly call out a "kale caesar salad with grilled chicken" or "shaved brussel sprouts w/ manchego" to lure in the customers they think they are lacking? You can eat pretty healthy at BBQ if you choose to.

Now the service and drink prices often left a lot to be desired and caused me to get take out more than visit the place, but not sure how that will change in any new incarnation.

    More BBQ! More Hospitality please!

    Loved Barn!
The main reason we didn't go as frequently were the fact that our butts lived up in Deerfield, and that parking in the city it a GIANT PAIN!
1 thing won't change- the other is unlikely to change also...
Will have to try to go in the very near future.

Official reopening (7:30 pm) of the reimagining today...

    Old Grounds Social
    950 W Wrightwood Ave, Chicago
    (773) 832-4000

The name Old Grounds Social honors the iconic neighborhood space which has been a long-time location for sports fans and foodies alike. The new concept will bring an exciting new energy to the Lincoln Park community. Led by one of Chicago’s favorite Chefs, Jason Paskewitz, OGs guests can experience a unique urban-casual menu during the week and a brunch menu with extra flare on weekends. Brunch will include table-side bloody mary's, a variety of flavored mimosas, and a DJ spinning favorite throwbacks, creating a brunch experience unlike any other in Chicago.

interesting you feel this way. With the "new" parking situation in Chicago thanks to Daley selling it off, I've found parking to be a breeze in nearly any area of the city I go to as the "sitters" aren't camping out in what are now "expensive" pay zones.

Looking forward to trying OGS !

I agree with you, Willie. I drive all over the city (I also take public transit all over). Away from the downtown areas, I can't remember the last time I couldn't park on the street within three blocks of my destination, usually for free. And in the downtown areas, the last few years I've consistently found reasonably priced parking near my destination using the Spothero and Parkwhiz websites/apps beforehand. We have it so much better (and cheaper) than many other big cities!

Yes, we even (almost always) are able to find free parking near Steppenwolf. We never have paid for parking near Barn, always able to find something a block or three away.

Barbecue guru Gary Wiviott has moved on from 8 Hospitality Group, the company that just converted Barn & Co. barbecue to a restaurant with less meat on the menu, Faregrounds, at 950 W. Wrightwood Avenue. Wiviott was the pitmaster and Barn & Co., and now he’s moved on after seven years. He writes that his short-term plan is “to concentrate on consulting, working on a third Low & Slow cookbook, getting in better physical condition and making my bride of almost 30-years smile.”
