We recently had dinner at the new location of Anna Maria Pasteria. We were regulars at the old location. The food was pretty much the same, but then I almost always get the same thing. The room is really beautiful but also noisier than the old place, though that could be because it was also pretty crowded. We went on a Saturday night at about 6 PM. When we went to the old location at that time, it was usually much quieter. Well, as you can tell, I like this place, so I am glad to see it thriving.

We always get the fried calamari because I think they have the best in the area. It's the small calamaris and never chewy. A little salty and not too much breading. Mmmm! I also usually get the stuffed shells. They are that good. My husband has been very pleased with the rotolo, and our dining companions have always enjoyed the ravioli specials. We have enjoyed their desserts in the past, and profiteroles are now on the menu. I am not really a wine person, so I will not attempt to assess their selection. Service was a little crazy but I am hopeful that it will be smooth once again. Prices seemed about a dollar higher, but I always thought it was a pretty good deal for homemade pasta.

I am pretty sure the pasta is all homemade. I think entrees mostly range from $10- $20 (my husband always pays!). Portion size is on the small side for a restaurant meal, but I like that. Always leaves room for an appetizer and dessert!

My wife and I went to the old Anna Maria location on Broadway our first night at our condo in Buena Park after we got married. Then we moved west and didn't get to the new location often, but we were going to go last night to celebrate our 32d anniversary, but we didn't get there fast enough. Thanks Anna for having run a wonderful place - I'll miss it!
