Sunday morning Mother's Day 7:17am. Line around the corner, all the way West from the door and around the freaking corner.
Wanted fresh, have bialys and bagels in the freezer, as well as a pack of Costco lox. No way I'd wait in that line unless I was completely out of bagels and bialys.
On the plus side, Fresh Farms, Touhy, was not crowded in the least. They open at 7am.
Bialys, count me a Fan!
I always preferred the Touhy location, but that line was really pissing me off when the weather was sub-20 degrees over the winter. It forced me to give the Dempster location a try, and the quality of bagels (and bialys, I assume) was every bit as good without the crowd. Only difference is they still operate as cash-only.G Wiv wrote:New York Bagel & Bialy, Touhy.

FF didn't have the smoked trout I've become hooked on last weekend, and just like NYB&B, their having a second (of more than 2) location saved me as Golf Rd was loaded with trout. I've temporarily shifted to both alternate locations.

I don't know about you but I have never gone into a pharmacy to pick something up without being told I'd have to wait.

2. Only buy as many bagels as you can eat in a 24 hour period. If you want more, go back to NYB&B. Its like donuts. No one buys donuts for eating in a couple days, you eat them fresh!
Really? This is something I had not previously viewed.rfleisch1 wrote: Granted, I live walking distance away, but it mystifies me why more people don't buy their bagels at the Skokie location, instead of the Lincolnwood location, especially since the bagel baking done at this location is exemplary.
Granted, no deli sandwiches are available, but between the cream cheese and lox in the cooler and pristine and fresh bagels, it just doesn't get much better than this!
