I'm surprised a topic hasn't been started for this place, they are making some quality pizzas. Their dough is good, not Spacca Napoli level, but their toppings are phenomenal. The best 3 I've had are the Sgt. Pepper, I Feel like Bacon Love and Little Stinker.

It's much better than Pizza East across the street at Soho House. They are very busy though so you might have to wait a little.

I'll admit it. When friends told me that we were meeting at Parlor for pizza last night, I was a little disappointed. There are so many spots in the city I want to try -- some even available on Monday -- and this is where I ended up. And I had never even tried it.

Well, my mistake. I ordered the Italian beef pizza with hot giardiniera (I chose this over the sweet pepper option). It also included provolone cheese and Italian seasoning. And it was excellent - a flavorful, crispy and chewy crust, some nice charred spots, flavorful Italian beef and the toppings were really well applied and balanced. This was a real surprise.

They have a fairly expansive beer list too. I had this Tokyo Black porter from Japanese brewer Yo-Ho Brewing Company which I enjoyed.

How is it that Parlor has been open this long and been so ignored by everyone here?

I've been for an event. It was so good. But I just forgot about it.

    Thanks for the reminder.

I have always said the food at Parlor is MUCH better than it needs to be. While the crust isn't anything special, the Pizza's are slightly unusual and always tasty, the place is fun if you are in the right mood, and the salads are also quite good too! Why didn't we open this money printer?

I can't speak for anyone else but a credible claim of racial discrimination made against them was enough for me to spend my pizza dollars at any of dozens of other places. Does anyone know how that played out?

Exactly. Me, too. Life's too short.

I'm married. One of the perks of being married is not having to go to places like Parlor in your spare time. If you're there for any reason other than a date (or trying to get one) you can do better.

That being said, I went a few times for lunch when I worked near there and I'll say the pizza bread is pretty damn good. That's it for me though. The pizza itself was pretty mediocre and suffered from an inconsistent cook time (even from pizza to pizza in the same order). Agreed that the crust shows the flaws of the product, and at $18 for a personal size I can't be as forgiving as misterchico.

You can speak for yourself, but Parlor has a very good rotating draft list and the open-air setup in the warmer months makes it one of the best places to watch sports and drink beer. You could even say being able to go there, and stay as long as you'd like without having to worry about it, is a big perk of not being married.

People love to hate on Pizza Parlor but their pizzas are great and in particular the Sgt. Pepper and Little Stinker are phenomenal.
