We decided to take advantage of the express lanes being open and headed down to Chinatown today. Did a riff on our semi-regular Saturday morning NW side breakfast date with Audrey’s friend. Saturday dim sum, South Side.
Ordering with two 12-year-old girls was a bit different than if we had been all adults, but we managed to come up with a good variety.
Shrimp items were the stand-outs. Crispy shrimp spring rolls and shrimp crepes were excellent.
The girls wanted the mango pancakes. Basically mango crepes stuffed with whipped cream and a little diced mango. They loved it, I liked it.
Soup dumplings- small but flavorful.
Steamed sticky rice with chicken - I don’t eat chicken but this was a hit with the table. They all enjoyed.
Egg custard buns & bbq pork buns were both hits.
Steamed beef balls were the lone miss. Too dense/rubbery.
The room is showing a bit of wear & tear but service was friendly & efficient.
Enjoyed a stroll through the mall afterwards followed by a visit to K-POP of Chinatown (both girls are fans,) and some Boba at Hello
Jasmine.
