According to their carry out menu, they are the former owners of Pine Yard. FYI - it's mostly a carry out spot.

Did you frequent the old Evanston location? (We actually go back to when it was on Church street and ate there the last night, they ran out of pancakes for the Mu Shu and I thought there was going to be a riot - the second Evanston location never had the same vibe, but the food was still great.)
I'm curious if the food is still the same as before.

At the grocery store recently, a man bemoaned the egg roll at the Pine Yard. He thought it was the best he had ever tasted.
I have no direct knowledge of this egg roll, but curious if it was as good as he said and is there comparable out there?
Regards,

I'm not sure if it was the egg roll... might have been fried spring rolls. But they were a Pine Yard specialty and were the best I've ever had (note: I haven't traveled the city/world on any egg/spring roll tasting missions or anything) and I also miss them. They were small and ultra-crackly, with little crispy shards of rice paper shattering with each bite. Just about every meal came with one if I recall correctly.
