Very pleased with our carryout order last night, which also covered lunch today! (Actually tried Galit, which is closer to my work, but the website link indicated online delivery was unavailable at that time, I checked their Instagram and learned they were on hiatus through July 8.) I arrived to the neighborhood early, so maximized the moment by picking up six bottles of wine across the street at In Fine Spirits. Upon entry at Fiya, my bag was on a counter with my receipt/name, so I was able to grab and go. The space was very open and, once I resume on-site dining, one I would consider inviting, comfortable, and fun.
Our order included salatim, hummus with braised beef (also included whole chickpeas), greens & radish salad, wood-oven chicken, and khachapuri. The salad was substituted by choice when I was called with report the watermelon salad was unavailable. I was offered a10% discount "for my inconvenience", and my inconvenience was non-existant, only a phone call from a very apologetic and helpful staff member. I think they buried the lead in naming the salad by not identifying the fried goat cheese balls. And one more note re: the salad: in the future, I would request dressing on the side, especially for carryout. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, even the breast, after reheating on a gas grill. As previously referenced, the khachapuri was perfect in every way. The order came with two packages of two pieces of housemade pita, I believe included with the salatim and hummus, thicker and fluffier than I have previously seen pita yet still with a pocket. Trying to eat a bit healthier, we sacrificially did not order the schnitzel or za'atar fries, and hope to enjoy those on a future visit. All in all, I think Fiya is a fantastic addition to the neighborhood and the city, and I am glad they chose to proceed with opening during this crazy and challenging time.
