Please, only post basic information about openings and closings
    on this thread.

If you have something substantive or want to share an opinion, it does not belong here, so please do not post it here. Instead, please add the information to an already existing thread, or start a new one if one doesn't already exist. Because important details will almost certainly get lost and forgotten in this thread, any discussion that takes place here will be removed and relocated to a dedicated thread.

If you post about an opening, please consider also creating a new thread and linking to it for further discussion. If you post about a closing, please also link to an existing thread, if one exists, to direct further discussion.

    Important Reminder About Accuracy:
Additionally, we want to remind you not to post about a closing without making absolutely certain that your information is correct and accurate in every way.

Please do not post rumors of closings without linking to a credible, 3rd-party source that substantiates your report. (i.e. "Eater.com reports . . ." is ok)

Please remember that per our Posting Guidelines, posts pertaining to health code-related issues are also not permitted here unless they include a link to a credible, third-party source.

Please keep in mind that it's far more important to be accurate than fast with your information. The best course of action may be to make a phone call to the establishment in question before posting anything. But whatever you do, make sure you are 100% correct before posting about a closing on this thread or any other thread in these forums. Erroneous posts about closings will be removed without notification.

    Thanks again,

Thai Room Restaurant at 4022 N Western Ave is papered over. A sign in the window says "Sushi & Beyond is Coming." I would post a picture but I have never been able to make it work.

The sign actually says "Comimg" but I catch their drift.

The restaurant biz in general seems to be betting that Covid is almost over. In my desperation for any shred of hope, I want to believe they know something I don't.

Very positive reports coming out from challenge trials indicate that moussaka is 93% effective against Covid, with only mild side effects (sleepiness after 1 dose, coma after 2). Must be refrigerated for storage but reheated before application.

Well, in all fairness, it could be months before many (most?) people are vaccinated. Until that happens, I think it's still 'proceed with caution' for plenty of folks.

My guess is that many recently opened spots have a close eye on carry-out, delivery conduits, etc. They're likely set up for the current situation and will be able to pivot to more full-service operations once things truly ease up.

For the next couple of months, at least, the "go live your life" mantra may be limited to the bowl of soup with a side of jello crowd. Under-65's won't see a first dose until late March.

Also, the prevailing thought right now is that vaccination won’t prevent you from transmitting COVID to someone who isn’t vaccinated so living your life could kill a lot of people.

I've read quite a lot saying otherwise but admittedly, there's no definitive knowledge about this yet, so caution seems wholly appropriate.

Red Star Liquor, a fixture on Logan Square’s Milwaukee Avenue since 1991, is no longer just a liquor store — it’s also an Italian sub spot. Owner Esam Hani converted an under-used area of the liquor store at 2725 N. Milwaukee Ave. into a walk-up deli counter to bring in more revenue during the coronavirus pandemic.
