I've been helping recent Afghan arrivals and am looking for Halal restaurants I can bring them food from when they 1st get here. I assume Devon, but which ones?

Our newest arrival spent 7 yrs translating for Special Forces (he's only 27) and has been here 3 days. Left Kandahar with flipflops and a garbage bag filled w/clothes w/his wife and 15 mo old son. You can help to if you'd like. Just contact me. They need everything. Laptops, bikes, food, winter clothes, furniture, $...

This particular family is in W. Rogers Pk but they're being placed all over the city and suburbs. 3 months ago the group had 5 families. This month, 60. Overwhelmed, underfunded/staffed. Whatever LTH'rs can do would be wonderful.

Can you give a link to the organization that is sponsoring these families so we can donate?

There are various agencies that actually resettle. Refugee One, Heartland etc... We p/u the slack as they're overwhelmed (as we are). You can contribute to them. The group I'm affiliated with https://www.facebook.com/groups/152284822064409 is not a charity org/npo and don't know if they have the ability to take $. This ask was geared to a particular individual that I'm working with and just grew out of that. If you'd like to zelle some $ I will make certain it goes to him and his family's needs.

Bamyan Kabob up on Lincoln and California is Afghan food and I think halal. Though I'd check with them first just to make sure. There are many Halal restaurants in the general area of West Rogers Park, Albany Park, etc - a lot of Pakistani and Indian restaurants but also other cuisines whether Lebanese, Moroccan, etc.

Not sure how up-to-date this is but it's a start:
