Menya Goku, 2207 W. Montrose, appears to have reopened. Drove by it last night and saw customers dining. Google and their website also confirm, but I'd probably call just to confirm. Anyway, this is good news for me. It's in the neighborhood and has one of my favorite bowls of ramen in the city.

A new ice cream shop is coming to Logan Square next to Lula Cafe at 2535 N Kedzie Ave. The owner is John Lawrence Geary, who ran into controversy as having a vegan paleta cart. He was more or less run out of that business by people calling him a gentrifier and appropriator.

    https://blockclubchicago.org/2020/07/21 ... leta-cart/

Will he be slinging the same paletas or, will it be ice cream in another form?

ALSO Carbon Live Fire Mexican Grill at 26th & Princeton appears to be either expanding into, or moving next door into the ground floor level of the 3 story building just north of it via building permit issued a few weeks ago. That space used to be an art gallery apparently.

There's a permit issued for a sushi restaurant at 2513 W Armitage next to Kyoten. Could Kyoten be opening something next door - perhaps in the same vain as what Omakase Yume did by opening something more approachable next door?

Yardbird is coming to River North/Streeterville at 530 N Wabash (Grand & Wabash). Their IG account shows they're coming to Chicago and a building permit was issued where they're the owner of the permit. According to said permit, this could be a 2 level restaurant. This is the former home of PF Chang's in the ground floor of the Hilton Garden Inn.

Yardbird has locations in Miami Beach, Las Vegas (in the Venetian), Dallas, Washington DC, Los Angeles, and Singapore. They're also opening up a Denver outpost this year with the Chicago one. Basically...another "American" restaurant.
