Hello fellow Little Three Happiness members. I've lived in Chicago my entire life, except for the past four years. I will be returning soon to visit family and friends. I would love to go to Devon Avenue for Indian food, but with all the new COVID-19 cases, I'm not comfortable dining indoors.

Does anyone know if any of the small Devon Avenue restaurants have created an outdoor seating area?

Or alternately if none have, does anyone know if any have those large floor to ceiling panel doors that can be fully opened at the front of the restaurant with tables next to them? That would be the next best scenario.

    Thanks so much!

It's not on Devon but Tava (Morton Grove) has excellent Indian food. During the past 2 summers, they had 3 outdoor tables (I would call to make sure that is still the case). I highly recommend their chicken lababdar (off menu), boti kebab masala, and excellent paneer dishes.

After a fair amount of searching, I found these Devon Avenue restaurants that claim to have outdoor patio seating:

Drove past Tava yesterday, there were three outdoor tables.

Thanks for the tip about Usmania! I've added them to my list.

As for the others, thanks for the burbs listings, however, I'm only interested in the Devon Avenue experience. I can get plenty of good India food where I live now, but can't get the Devon Avenue experience. :D

Slow-moving traffic, random double-parking and a dearth of actual parking? Not solely a Devon Avenue experience but certainly the one you'll have.

Yes, I'm quite familiar with it after living in Chicago for most of my life. I'm actually looking forward to it.

Hello everyone. I've returned from my visit to Chicago. I'm disappointed to report that of all the restaurants that said they had outdoor seating, only one actually did and that was Annapurna (https://eatannapurna.com). They set up tables and chairs next to their restaurant on North Rockwell St. (they are located on the corner of Devon Ave. and North Rockwell St.)

I visited on a weekday at around 6 PM and was also disappointed that several stores and restaurants I remembered were gone and there was hardly anyone walking around on Devon. The restaurants were all very lightly attended as well. At least one literally had no one in it despite being open for dinner. Devon Ave. was just a shell of its former self.

Maybe it would have been more lively on a Friday or Saturday night--I'm not sure. I think the coronavirus has had a significant impact on Devon Avenue and the stores and restaurants there.
