Just a quick note to recommend Kunafa Nabulsia, a small Moroccan and Algerian restaurant up on Pulaski above Irving Park. I had read about their sandwiches, so that was the plan when we visited this weekend. Indeed, the merguez sandwich was solid, but the real star of the show was the lamb tagine, one of two rotating specials each day. Saturday was lamb or chicken tagine. The dish was perfect Moroccan home cooking, with tender bone-in lamb, prunes and dried apricots, and almonds in a rich stew. The dish was served with a loaf of bread and large bowl of thick vegetable soup that was almost a mean in itself. The menu had other interesting regular options, including pastilla and various sweet pastries. Couscous is the regular Friday special. Nice folks, adding something unusual to the Chicago food scene.
