Please, only post basic information about openings and closings
    on this thread.

If you have something substantive or want to share an opinion, it does not belong here, so please do not post it here. Instead, please add the information to an already existing thread, or start a new one if one doesn't already exist. Because important details will almost certainly get lost and forgotten in this thread, any discussion that takes place here will be removed and relocated to a dedicated thread.

If you post about an opening, please consider also creating a new thread and linking to it for further discussion. If you post about a closing, please also link to an existing thread, if one exists, to direct further discussion.

    Important Reminder About Accuracy:
Additionally, we want to remind you not to post about a closing without making absolutely certain that your information is correct and accurate in every way.

Please do not post rumors of closings without linking to a credible, 3rd-party source that substantiates your report. (i.e. "Eater.com reports . . ." is ok)

Please remember that per our Posting Guidelines, posts pertaining to health code-related issues are also not permitted here unless they include a link to a credible, third-party source.

Please keep in mind that it's far more important to be accurate than fast with your information. The best course of action may be to make a phone call to the establishment in question before posting anything. But whatever you do, make sure you are 100% correct before posting about a closing on this thread or any other thread in these forums. Erroneous posts about closings will be removed without notification.

    Thanks again,

    =R=
    for the Moderators

    1) New Uyghur restaurant opened at 3315 W Bryn Mawr near NE Illinois University. Replaces Korean BBQ House which closed around 2 years ago.

    https://www.instagram.com/faiza.chicago/

    2) A new Xinjiang restaurant is coming to Chinatown on Wentworth, I believe replacing Spicy Grandma Kitchen (2353 S Wentworth). I may have similar or the same food as #1.

    3) Momo Factory, a Napalese joint, opened a "River North" location at 860 N Orleans St. Replaces the original Big & Little's which closed around 2 years ago I think. Momo Factory has their original location on Broadway just north of Belmont in Lakeview East

    4) Tapicozza appears to be opening up a West Loop location at 1002 W Lake St. They are from Oakbrook Terrace and service Mexican food and pizza.

    5) Mambo Wings opened at 6214 N Western with a Moge Tee in it. Mambo Wings serving up chicken wings and popcorn chicken. Moge Tee is a bubble tea/milk tea brand from China. They have a bunch of locations in the US now including one that opened in Evanston last year.

    6) Reggio's Pizza coming to Bronzeville soon at 4438 S Cottage Grove Ave right near Bronzeville Winery

    7) Some place called Doughnut Palace is opening a little south of Wrigley Field at 3408 N Clark St in the former home of Pick Me Up Cafe, which moved north in early 2020. The building permit indicates this place originates in Seattle, but I can't find anything on them.

8 ) A new steakhouse/supper club is coming to "River North" at 868 N Franklin St. The former home of MK Restaurant, the space has been vacant since 2017.

    https://www.instagram.com/divanchicago/

    9) Gemini Grill is coming to One Chicago at State & Chicago Ave. From Ballyhoo and based on Gemini in Lincoln Park. Should be a 2 story restaurant.

We need a Reese’s-style accident here—a batch of Adobo or Taco seasoning to tip over into the Browns batter or an “accidental” dumping of a bag of Garam Masala into the tub of chicken parts…

Come spring, Brad Nadborne will open Lefty’s Righteous Bagels at 827 Chicago Ave. to fill a void for wood-fired bagels in Evanston, and even Chicago. Outside of Reno restaurant in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood, Nadborne doesn’t know of any local places that sell wood-fired, or Montreal-style, bagels.

Salerno's Pizza on Kensington in Mount Prospect has closed, Salerno's Pizza and Catering on Prospect Ave in downtown Mount Prospect should be open in the next couple weeks.

They're not my favorite Italian joint, but they were pretty good and within walking distance - no longer. In the 30 years we've lived here that spot has been Chinese twice, Thai, but Salerno's the longest.

Salerno's was a family favorite for a brief period. Not so much for their pizza, but for the other Italian dishes on the menu. Nothing groundbreaking; just good solid red sauce Italian made with love. Especially good was their sauteed broccoli. Done to a perfect tender crisp texture, with a pleasing punch of garlic.

Then, apparently, the original owners sold the place, and the quality took a turn for the worse. We never went back.

DeNucci's Italian, a restaurant from the Ballyhoo group, is planning to open in downtown Highland Park in the fall of 2024. The original DeNucci's opened in Lincoln Park last year. Not sure of the logic of opening literally across the street from Bella Via, another Italian spot.
