Please, only post basic information about openings and closings
    on this thread.

If you have something substantive or want to share an opinion, it does not belong here, so please do not post it here. Instead, please add the information to an already existing thread, or start a new one if one doesn't already exist. Because important details will almost certainly get lost and forgotten in this thread, any discussion that takes place here will be removed and relocated to a dedicated thread.

If you post about an opening, please consider also creating a new thread and linking to it for further discussion. If you post about a closing, please also link to an existing thread, if one exists, to direct further discussion.

    Important Reminder About Accuracy:
Additionally, we want to remind you not to post about a closing without making absolutely certain that your information is correct and accurate in every way.

Please do not post rumors of closings without linking to a credible, 3rd-party source that substantiates your report. (i.e. "Eater.com reports . . ." is ok)

Please remember that per our Posting Guidelines, posts pertaining to health code-related issues are also not permitted here unless they include a link to a credible, third-party source.

Please keep in mind that it's far more important to be accurate than fast with your information. The best course of action may be to make a phone call to the establishment in question before posting anything. But whatever you do, make sure you are 100% correct before posting about a closing on this thread or any other thread in these forums. Erroneous posts about closings will be removed without notification.

    Thanks again,

It's been a couple years - more than I think I'd imagine because of the pandemic - but they were always a tapas favorite.

The chef behind Michelin-starred Esme — James Beard Award finalist Jenner Tomaska — is opening a luxurious downtown steakhouse with a French edge. The Alston should open in late spring in Gold Coast, on the third floor of One Chicago, the 971-foot tower at State and Superior.

I'm sure it'll be wonderful but it seems the last thing this city needs is another effing steakhouse, French edge or not.

On my way home from the LTH Indian lunch in Northbrook-- I passed a brand new Indian restaurant in Arlington Heights. Curry NaanStop has replaced the Chipotle in the NorthPoint Mall (where Jewel is). Not to be confused with Britain's Curry On NaanStop. Their website lists a "soft launch menu" at present.

I also checked out their Facebook page, and it says that Dec.25 was their first day.

We were in Monica's in Prospect Heights tonight. Great as always. We noticed some changes to the decor, and asked when it was done. Apparently recently they were sold to the owners of Nachos Pizza in Wheeling. I'll miss José, the previous owner.

Like many folks, my parents and I went there as kids for that special dessert treat. I'm old enough (62) that this was the Irving location. Didn't know that the location in Buffalo Grove had a connection, and honestly I thought it closed some time ago. But I'll have to go back with my wife and 11 year old for old time's sake.
