Indian food seems to generate a great deal of controversy here, and this recommendation may be no exception....nevertheless, I think people should know that the little strorefront Bismillah (6301 N. Ridge) has been turning out some exceptional food. The frontier chicken and chicken shashlik (served most Fridays as a special) are fantastic. These dishes rank right up there with some of the best The Devon-o-land area has to offer. Not discussed too much around here, I suggest this place is worth a try.

I keep having good meals here. The daily specials have been pretty reliable. Chicken shashlik was again excellent.. Nehari, while not quite up to Sabri Nehari's version was good as well and overall a close second place finisher. Moong Dahl, Chicken Makhani and Tikka Masala also way above average.

I must say I'm surprised none of the Indo-Pak fans on this site have had anything to say about this nice little place. Surely others here must have tried these waters as well.....

The last time I have been there was 6 years ago. The restaurant used to be called Blue Ribbon at that time -- the same as the taxi company next door. It used to be very good at the time, but I haven't had a chance to go there since it changed to Bismillah.

I tried it once - (see here). It was decent - though what stood out most was the tangy hot table sauce.

Maybe things have changed, or perhaps there is just something about the way this place does certain dishes that appeals to me (tho there are usually several tables of Paki families who seem to like it too ). Whatever the reason , their versions of chicken shashlik and frontier chicken (among others) are my current favorites. I like the table sauce too (good with the ground beef samosas).
