(
Full disclosure--this is my cousin Leslie's daughter Laura's joint...)
But I wouldn't post here unless it was good. And Bagel Bar is that. Where we in Chicago or even in New York City consider high-quality bagels to be part of the fabric of daily life, it's not so much the case north of Boston. They love their 'Dunkin' here, but that establishment's bagels frankly are little more than edible.
Bagel Bar's NY-style bagels pass the test--the glossy crunch on the outside, soft bread on the inside, it all holding ground when toasted. Pictured are a chicken salad (with cranberries & walnuts) sandwich on an onion bagel, then my Nova lox with tomato and Chelsea Fire (well-known local hot sauce) cream cheese on an everything bagel. Mine had that rare perfect-proportion
feng shui, every ingredient in concert--the sandwich as a whole rivaled what I've savored at New York Bagels & Bialys in Skokie or my other fave, Ess-A-Bagel in midtown Manhattan.
Their coffees keep the bar set high as well, with a nitrogen draft system on tap serving up signature and cold brew concoctions. But their locally-sourced joe holds its own as well, fresh & clean-tasting.
Given the pandemic, Bagel Bar is not alone in incorporating a keen online ordering & paying system that is simple even for those of a certain age, and Laura--a 3rd-generation Boston restaurateur--and workers will run the orders out to your vehicle upon arrival. This is a perfect location on constantly busy Rte. 3 for quick satisfaction & high quality throughout.
