As I expected, the single-item price is $9.99/lb, so $3.33/lb if you buy 4-6 pounds (about half of which is bone). Not what I would call a sale, but I grudgingly give Jewel one point for at least putting the single-item price in the flyer this time.

    Katie,
This Osco scam bothers me even more: 5 oz salmon portions for $5.99, which works out to be 50-60% more expensive than the same product from the service fish dept.

Mariano's flyer has baby back ribs for $2.99/lb, and you don't have to buy three racks to get that price.

Jewel will also have BB ribs on sale a few times per year for 1.99/lb. They've been running that b1g2 thing for years. Usually even bogo needs the price to be checked. It's not always the best price.

For the fish - I'm pretty sure their marketing dept has figured out that people will assume that is the "per lb" price when they look at it. I always giggle at that one. They do it with filet mignon portions as well. They also used to advertise their deli meats at "1/2 lb" prices, making them pretty much the same as other store full lb prices. For example, their ad would show "Sara Lee Sliced Turkey Breast at $3.99 1/2 lb!" But, places like Tony's would show the same thing on sale for $3.99 / lb. The other stores caught on to what Jewel was doing, and started displaying the words, "FULL pound price!" in their ads. Oddly, Jewel stopped advertising 1/2 lb prices, weird, huh?

Even with all their marketing stunts, past and present, Jewel has come back into my favor in the past three years. They've very noticeably had to lower prices with sale items to compete.

Did anybody buy the mini watermelons that are on sale for $.99? When I went to the Green Bay Jewel on Saturday evening they were out of them. Were they any good?

I did get some mangos. blueberries and strawberries. They were okay, but were not great. Jewel had California cherries for $5.99 a pound. They did not look ripe enough.

A lot of seniors hated that game last year, because you had to belong to J4U to play it, and it was all done online. A lot of seniors preferred the Monopoly game, because you did not have to do it online. I actually won some Jewel gift cards during the game last year. It was more work than Monopoly though, and they did not have as many store coupons as the Monopoly game did.

I was at the Chicago Ave. Jewel in Evanston today, and they had a ton of clearance. Right by CS, they had a ton of boxes of stove top turkey dressing for 2/20 cents. They all expire on 6/10/23 though. They did have them for $.75 for at least a week, but very few of them were sold. They also have mint jam for 75% off in the same location. When you go to the clearance section in the back of the store, they have a bunch of stuff for 75% off, including canned pumpkin and bags of green tea which are now $1 a box. I ended up getting six cans of canned pumpkin for $.75 a can. They all expire 12/24. They also had organic canned pumpkin marked down to $.87. In the seasonab aisle, they had the little containers of real lemon, and real lime for $.34.

They had cherries for $5.99 a pound, and they had blueberries for $2.50 a pint, but the blueberries were from Mexico, and so I passed. I did get a quart of strawberries though. I had to look around to find some decent strawberries. Hopefully by next weekend, I can get some strawberries at the farmer's market.

    Hope this helps, Nancy

    Hi,

When you visit your Just4U account, you can click on games. For every $10 spent at Jewel, you receive a game though up to 10 games per purchase. Your Jewel receipt will indicate how many games are available.

Key difference from last year: only one free game for initializing. Last year, you had three free games per day. Often there is a video watching component, which I would 'watch' last year at superspeed. The ability to speed through has been eliminated or I did not find it yet.

There are a few bonus games with requirements to watch a video or follow Jewel on facebook. I already blew through those, so I am one or two games short of completing a land.

I signed up for the Flavor Adventure game two hours ago. I was getting ready to play the game when I got a thumbs down. It was down for maintenance. It is still down for maintenance. I have to go to Jewel to pick up a prescription, which is only $5, and so I won't get any game pieces for that purchase. I will have to see if I can spend $10 on groceries. I have 4x the points rewards for Hills Brothers, and I have a $1 off coupon for it, but the last two times I have been to Jewel, they have been out of the perfect balance one that I buy.

I have a question about Flavor Adventure? Last year there was an option to get free game pieces by watching videos every day. I just tried doing that, and when I finished watching the youtube videos, I did not get any additional game pieces. What am I doing wrong? Probably the most game pieces I would get through shopping at Jewel would be four in one week. When I discovered about watching the videos every day, my chances of winning anything really increased. There is supposed to be a way to get free game pieces, but I don't know how.

I am also looking for the salmon burgers that are supposed to be on sale B1G2 free, and I have looked at two different Jewel stores, and I have not seen them. BTW- I was at the Chicago Ave. Jewel in Evanston again yesterday, and they still had the Stove Top turkey stuffing marked down to ten cents. It expires on 6/10 though. It is right in front of customer service. Thanks, Nancy

This appears to have been discontinued, because I certainly accessed it for free rounds. I did like this feature.

Last year, I was able to speed up the video play, which is not available this year.

All my favorite work arounds have vanished.

According to the page where one has to "watch" the video entirely:
"Once complete, select a method of entry if prompted, verify that you are not a robot, and click submit to claim..."

The limit this year increased to up to 10 entries per day (clock resets 12a Mountain time) from, if I recall correctly, 5 last year. Speeding up the videos has been disabled.

One could try viewing a video on a phone and also a computer (different browser programs or windows/tabs as well) to save time earning free Alternate Entries. Errors may occur if gameplay is attempted from different devices at the same time, as the game land/board state will not be synced, so wait to play the game until after the entries have been earned.

There is a dashboard for tracking gameplay history and game activity.

Just posting as an FYI, after you complete all 6 sections, you are granted a special deal with the following coupons to choose from.

Since my image stopped working and I don't feel like fixing it, here's the text version:

    • $15 off any Meat or Seafood Dept Purchase of $15 or more
    • $10 off any In Store Bakery Purchase of $10 or more
    • $15 off any Personal Care or Health Department Purchase of $15 or more
    • $10 off Any Produce Department purchase of $10 or more
    • $10 off any Deli Department Purchase of $10 or more
    • $15 off any Paper, Cleaning, or Home Department Purchase of $15 or more

You maaaaaay be able to complete multiple times for additional coupons- you start fresh with all lands available again after completion- but I'm not sure how many more times I can watch those free entry videos. They're brutal.

In the game area, they have a shell game. Of the two I participated in, the beginning and end location were the same. I don't know if that applies to all, but a pattern observed from a very small sample.
