I haven't done a taste test comparison but would probably stick to the regular sugar-sweetened version of each versus a diet version to avoid any bitter flavor in the cooked glaze (although if anyone's done it with a diet soda and not had that problem I'd be glad to hear it). I personally tend to stick to (ha ha) a brown sugar glaze, but I am curious about trying Dr Pepper ...
The question I ask is whether you should use the caffeine-free Coca-Cola, or the regular?

We will be having grilled Loin of Lamb from Fresh Farms with Fresh Polish from Andy's Deli.
Polish rye with Butter Lambs and peas in butter sauce.
Polish beer with Columbia Crest H3 red wine.
Had our foray to Andy's today and it was not that crowded!
    Fresh Polish @ $2.99/#.
Took home Cheese/potato and mushroom Perogi's for dinner tonight, some sort of breaded fish for Friday and Chicken Kiev and a Roasted Pork Knuckle for Saturday dinner. If one lived near Andy's, one would never had to cook, the Hot Side has so many options!
Andy's also sells a smoked bacon with ribs attached. Got a whole one to heat in Kapusta.

Plans get revised on the fly around here.

Breakfast was Swedish pancakes with wild blueberry preserves and whipped cream.

Dinner was Ash Reshteh (Persian Noodle Soup) with focaccia on the side. There were so many herbs, there was no need to consider a salad.

The ham is still waiting for its meeting with Coca Cola.

I helped prep a few items at my family's Easter dinner (ham, beef tenderloin, mashed potatoes, asparagus, spinach casserole, canned corn) and then, after dinner, we were all rewarded with this annual dessert tradition . . .

    Lamb Cake
    Pound cake with strawberry buttercream.

These little cups of candies, for the kinders, were nice and this one amused me . . .

    Hi,

I finally cooked the ham. I kept getting ping pong texts from a few family members inquiring when the ham would be cooked. I was so annoyed, I uncovered the ham and placed in an oven at 350 degrees. Too hot for this, but I was just tired of hearing about this ham.

No surprise the ham had crispy edges and was a little dry. I have since made a sauerkraut and ham soup, which worked really well with lots of sour cream to dampen the saltiness. I have two small pieces that will simmer in Dr. Pepper tomorrow, which caused someone to roll their eyes. It will re-introduce moisture lost in my sloppy cooking.

It may be I will change my mind again about those last bits. They may end up in a lentil and ham soup.

I did not buy a replacement ham over Easter, so this may be the last ham until later this year.

    Regards,
