I buy all my fish/seafood here and have never had an issue. Until today. About a week ago I purchased tuna steaks that we did on the grill and turned out great. Went back today for the same purpose. Tuna looked great and smelled fine. I made a marinade and a relish to top it with. When I went to add the tuna to the marinade I was shocked by the texture of the fish. It was mush and felt a bit slimy. Decided not to take a chance and tossed $23 worth. Major bummer.

Deflationary skirt steak prices at the Golf Rd location. After going up to $15.99/lb in the summer, the sign says $13.99/lb, but they're actually wrapped and priced at $11.99/lb. Was enough to make me switch from my usual boneless short ribs. The $1.99 for a dozen jumbo eggs appears to be over, but I'll keep checking here and on my occasional visits to Touhy and Dundee Rd.

I've come to realize that the Touhy location is only about 3 minutes farther than the Wheeling location if there is no traffic on Edens. I will definitely be going there more often.

Also, thank you for the intel on the Thai Basil.

Thanks. I didn't get the push notification. Without that, word of mouth is the only chance. I never would go to the coupons tab on my own.

Again I didn't get the push notification, and this time I hadn't checked LTH in a few days. Credit to the cashier at the Golf Rd location who noticed I hadn't added the coupon and told me about it on the spot so I could get the discount.

I've been regularly visiting both locations in Niles and have noticed some higher prices up on Golf. My Cha-Cha sunflower seeds are 2/$5 on Touhy, $3.29 on Golf. Bosc pears $1.99 vs $2.49.

I saw these on Touhy yesterday.
    Duke's mayo, 32 oz $4.99
    Reese's 16 oz Santa $4.99

Do you know if all these deals apply to both of the Niles locations of Fresh Farms?

Thanks. As far away as the Touhy Rd. store is from the Golf Rd store, I imagined prices might differ. Seems like they must be different towns, even though both are in Niles.

Niles has a bit of a funny shape, oriented NW-SE.

Just curious if people have knowledge (or theories), why this location seems to frequently have Kirkland items on sale.

I'm trying to remember what I've seen in the past. Butter for sure. Today I saw dried sour cherries.

There are just a handful of these items and I'm not sure if they're alway available. My recollection is that they are a bit more expensive than they are at Costco.

Independent grocers buy national chains overstock or products being discontinued through distributors at a discount wholesale price. Its the reason if you ever have been to Jerrys in Niles they sometimes have Trader Joes Nuts or some fancy cheese that once sold you will never see ever again! All these items usually have an expiration date in the same current year.

    Got my $5 discount yesterday!
    Gulf shrimp among other purchases.
You can easily taste and feel the crunch difference compared to Farmed Shrimp.
Had $30 in H-Mart Rewards so purchased live Fluke on sale and live Geoduck.
    Onto Binny's with a $15 digital coupon on wine/liquor.
Got my car washed gratis at the Exchange on the way home.
$50 savings and free car wash helped defray the cost of Premium gasoline.
Used Hwy 41 on the way down to save tolls but I93 on the way home as it’s much faster.
    A successful day!
    Details:
You must have a very sharp knife to fillet Fluke.
A Fish Shears helps with fins and gill removal.
I went back to the Western Technique for fillet and did quite well!
Roe and liver reserved for later, usually poached in butter.
There is a guy on UYube, Fish Trim, that one should watch to learn technique.
The Geoduck requires a knowledge of Geoduck/Clam anatomy.
Sharp clam knife to removed the body with siphon from the shell which has very sharp edges, reserve the body for chowder and process the siphon for sashimi.
Siphon is briefly dipped in boiling water and then ice water to stop the heat.
The outer covering on the siphon then pulls off quite easily.
Split the siphon horizontally with sharp sashimi knife and then score and cut into pieces.
I learned the technique from watching Kuni!
Classic Sushi chefs will cut the prepared siphon in front of you and slap a piece down on the counter, it will contract due to muscle contraction. They will say, “Alive!”.
All in all a good day!

The Mexican Gulf, maybe Pacific were excellent so I purchased a 5# frozen package today. They had Texas Brown at $14.99/# but since the $12.99/# were so good, I stuck with those.
Simply partially thaw, break apart, package and freeze.
Firm, crisp, tasty the way shrimp are supposed to be.
