    To me it comes down to the cookie; I would be happy even if there was no creme on an Oreo/Hydrox cookie. I will definitely do a taste test (maybe a blind one) when I get the chance. I say when because I haven't had sugar since February - been doing low carb for 7 months (almost done!). Oreo are my favorite addition to a custard sundae.

    It is a very chemical sounding name similar to the word "hydroxide" which is a strong base.

    The name was based on a convergence of hydrogen and oxygen which, even in the nascent days of advertising was ill-conceived. Relative to the simple iconicity of "Oreo" which immediately conveys the imagery of a cookie sandwich and is fun to say, the Hydrox was doomed to subordinate status from day one.
