Hi- I was wondering if anybody here goes to the Devon store? I have been to both of the Niles stores, but mostly the one on Touhy. The parking at the Touhy store is sometimes problematic and it gets more crowded than the Golf Road store. I just realized that the Devon store is definitely closer than the Golf Road store, and might be closer than the Touhy store is for me. Does the Devon store have as much as the Touhy store does, and how is there parking situation? Does it get as crowded? I prefer the Golf Road store to the Touhy store because it does not get as crowded, and parking is easier, but it is several miles further for me. Thanks, Nancy

The Devon store is 1/6 the size of the Touhy one. It can be crowded and parking is limited. It's very good for Indian groceries, but if you're looking for most anything else, the Niles store beats it hands down.

I generally shop at Touhy on weeknight evenings. Parking has rarely been a problem and the store doesn't seem too crowded (obviously both of these observations are subjective).

The Niles store is the one. I have from time-to-time gone to the Golf Road store as well because it was closer to the courthouse by a smidge. I am glad I can say I went. But the Niles' location is the location. I am not the only person from pretty far in the city who still heads out there to purchase, look, and marvel. Weekdays are always better if you want to avoid the crowds. I don't recall when last I was there in the evening on a weekday but that is also better.

I went to Fresh Farms Niles/Touhy yesterday/Saturday around 10am. Not too crowded though, in general, weekends are busier.

I snapped a pic of full sheet fresh chow fun, someone was asking in another thread. Its almost always stocked at FF Touhy.

I got within .80c of my guess the total yesterday. As a rule I calculate what the groceries would cost at Whole Foods and deduct 33%.

I prefer the Golf Mill-adjacent store over the Touhy location, but my reasons are trivial and dated. I like the look and feel of the store better, especially the produce and deli area, and in years past they had wonderful samples in the bakery.

Also, before 2020 it was easy to do a two-fer with Fresh Farms and Shop-n-Save on the other side of Golf Mill.

Parking is less of a hassle at the Golf store because there is less spillover from other stores in that plaza, but the in and out of the center is not ideal.

I agree with cilantro about the Devon store. I've only been a few times because of the parking. The lot behind the store is small.

To be fair, that was their first location (which has expanded). It was a small Greek produce market with flighty aspirations. The Niles location really innovated, it had a juice stand well before others jumped on the bandwagon and the feta bar still has more offerings than any store in the area. As they've expanded they've gained more features in larger footprints (better bakery on Golf) which have obviously not been retrofitted in smaller stores. So, sure the original location is limited but serves the local community, which is nice because he could easily shut it down and redirect resources into a new larger location in the suburbs.

I'd never been to Fresh Farms but decided to check it out this weekend after hearing about their seafood section. Seeing as we live closest to Devon, we headed there...and searched the store for the seafood section (or any meat, for that matter) before seeing a half-cooler filled with chicken. Fortunately we had nothing but time to we jumped in the car and headed to Niles -- and got our payoff! We both loved it, and look forward to returning.

I'm a regular Fresh Farms Touhy shopper, its my main grocery and has been for quite a while. Over the past few years I've noticed a slight shift in quality, cleanliness, customer interaction. Nothing major though perceptible. Its especially apparent in the employees, no one seems happy.

Shift to Fresh Farms Golf Road, where I occasionally shop and was a few days ago. Upbeat, spotless, gleaming produce, deli, meats, fish etc. Aisles well maintained, smiling employees on the move.

Terrific interaction with the deli person, she even popped out from behind the counter to show me where the drier kabanos was. Plus gave me a couple of tastes and checked slice size on each of my items. All with a smile.

When I checked out, completely unprompted, the cashier asked if I had the Fresh Farms app, yep I did. He said there was a new $5 off coupon and just like that, $66 became $61.

Kind of long winded, suffice to say I'd go to FF Golf more often but FF Touhy is 5 miles closer. Which, now that I type, does not seem that big of an obstacle.

I shop here weekly and have gotten fairly adept at exploring the nooks and crannies. One area I pay particular attention to is in the first freezer aisle on the bottom and to the left of the Eggo products. Several years ago I discovered frozen mini vanilla pancakes imported from Russia under the Russ Foods label that were so delicious. My daughter, a toddler at the time, loved them. And then they disappeared never to return. But interesting ethnic items do continue to appear there from time to time. I recently spotted some Turkish bagels there under the Sahtein label. Twisted rounds coated in sesame seeds that bake from frozen at 400 degrees for 5 minutes. I served these alongside a Mediterranean inspired salad for dinner tonight but could definitely see them being excellent with strong coffee for breakfast.

It took me some time to develop the habit. If you're lucky you might see someone else pull out their phone to get scanned to remind you. If it isn't even on your mind on the trip over, it's really unlikely you'll think of it before checkout.

Thanks for both suggestions but I have a feeling that my best bet is to write on my shopping list that I need to use my coupon from the app. Because I always have a shopping list, I'll make it one more item on my list. See if that helps

I truly enjoy the bottled water aisle. While Borsec is a staple at our house, I’m constantly sampling their variety of sparkling mineral waters. Once I finish my morning coffee, it’s pretty much mineral water the rest of the day. Sometimes flavored, usually not. I am very picky about my flavored waters. So many have a “fake” aftertaste.
A new-ish offering caught my eye so I took a chance on a non-carbonated flavored water - Zywiec Zdroj naturals - lime/mint. I’m hooked. Probably one of the cleanest flavored waters I’ve had. Really bright flavor with no weird aftertaste. The lemon/raspberry is also good but my daughter likes it a bit more than I do. We have the mandarin orange on deck but haven’t tried it yet.

$5 off $25 purchase through 12/15 per their app. I think you get the active offer if you download it now, but I'm not sure. I actually got the push notification for the discount on my way to the Golf Rd location yesterday. This loyalty program with the constant 1.25% discount via $5 per $400 (money spent with this discount still accrues to that), in addition to about 5-6 of these added $5 off $25 per year, seems vastly superior to the complexity of the Jewel program that I see discussed.

I know about that part. I just wasn't sure if it was issued to all accounts yesterday, or all accounts, ie. including new ones created today or tomorrow, see it whenever they go to the coupons or rewards tab to add it to the wallet (the screen they scan at checkout). Sounds like it's the latter, which I figured.
