Both of the Wilmette Jewel stores charge $3.49 for a gallon of milk, or two for $6, and so it means I can go to the Green Bay store and get it for $2.96. Other weeks I refuse to spend $3.49 for a gallon of milk, and I am forced to go to the Chicago Ave store in Evanston that I don't care for as much. I just checked, and I got my weekly savings today at 6:04am. The milk was the only personalized deal I got this week.

Mariano's is running a $1.29 for a 1/2 gallon milk special with card + digital download. You can use it up to five times.

Got back to Jewel for the Pub Burgers, and now have four pounds of ground beef. Thinking of trying to create "loose meat" with this. We'll see.

For those dealing with the cost of meds, have you checked out Mark Cuban's CostPlus Drug Company? They don't take insurance at all. I'm not on Medicare yet, but when I checked all of my meds there, the total cost of 90 day supply for the 5 was less than what I'm paying in copays with my insurance. I'm going move them.

    Hi,

Regarding Cuban's Cost Plus drug program, I switched three prescriptions for commonly prescribed drugs for heartburn, cholesterol and high blood pressure (I know, lose some weight and you probably won't need the meds) and the process to contact my Doctor and have him escribe the medications was painless. Only took one day for the Doctor to prescribe and Cost Plus to email me that they were ready to order. Got all three on a 90 day supply for $22.10 delivered to my mailbox, which is less than my co-pays were for the same medications when using my insurance. Crazy deal and seems like a no brainer!

I used to buy milk at Costco. Then I started getting gallons that didn't taste right. They weren't spoiled, or sour, or anything like that, just didn't taste right to me. After taking them back a few times (more than two times, less than 6) I gave up and started trying brands at other stores. Now I'm buying 1/2 gallon Organic at over $4.00, but at least it tastes good to me.

I stopped buying Dairygold sour cream for the same reason. It had a very odd taste. Switched to Daisy brand.

Hi- I was at the Jewel on Chicago Ave. in Evanston last night, and there was lots of coffee on clearance. Most of the clearance coffee was in the Kcup section, and it was 50% off, but there were a few bags of coffee on clearance too, and all of the 40 count boxes of Melitta coffee filters were on clearance. Unfortunately, none of the half caff coffee was on clearance or sale. There was also a lot of cocoa on clearance, including Swiss Miss and Stephans. They were out of the organic strawberries that were on sale for $1.99.

All I have won so far in the Flavor Adventure so far is a few sweeps entries, and one reward and some coupons that I will never use. Is there a limit on how many times you can play the game? I noticed I only have one category left to play, the savory category.

I am on my second tour of the lands, I have completed all but one.

I have banked 53 entries in the grand prize chances. I saw groceries for a year:

    Groceries for a Year*
The shopping is on us. Groceries are covered for you and a friend—or someone in need—for one full year.

*Groceries are awarded as one payment only to the winner. Groceries for a year is defined as $1,666 per month and prize is awarded as $20,000 in Albertsons gift cards. See Official Rules for prize details.

I do not come close to spending that much per month.

Thanks for the reminder. I'd forgotten about this contest. Without that reminder while shopping, I just figured it was over. Have won a couple of useful things -- $30 off one shopping trip and a free year of their new Prime-type service (which I would never have joined without the free membership -- just don't shop that much). But other than that, just the coupons and recipes. But not complaining. Happy for the $30 off.

I used my phone in the store only if I need to verify which product or size is being offered.

I was in Jewel today, and I did see the Minute Maid, but it has HFCS in it. It is the second ingredient, and so I decided to pass on it. I was in both of the Wilmette stores, and they both have lots of coffee on clearance, and the Green Bay store also has lots of cocoa on clearance.

I did not get the sauce on my Saturday Sampler. The only thing I won on the game was three sweepstakes, and a personalized price on Pepperidge Farms goldfish, which I never buy. I did get seven of the mangos. I hope they are good. I also got two of the organic strawberries. I also got a quart of strawberries at the farmer's market today too, and so I am going to be eating lots of strawberries and mangos this week.

PSA = the Athena melon offer is being replaced by cantaloupe at the same price. According to the produce guy I just spoke with, the quality of the Athena melon didn’t meet Jewel’s standards.

Jewel's idea of local seems to include most or all of Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. Their record on Athena melons last year was that most were obviously picked too early.

The Flavor Adventure game is ending on 7/26. So far I have won one reward, and I have gotten a personalized price on a bunch of stuff, most of which I never buy. Has anybody gotten a personalized price or coupon that you will actually use? I am not really disappointed that the game is ending soon. I was in Jewel yesterday, and all I bought was a package of organic strawberries, and so I did not get a spin.

Are they handing out any free items like the Monopoly game did? I am talking about free donuts or water.

True, and in some stores the clerk will use their own card to get the points. Nothing wrong with that if you ask me. But also, a phone number signed up with Mariano's or Picknsave can be used at any Kroger brand store. And I think Jewel phone numbers work at other Albertson stores. Worth a try.

I was in the Wilmette Jewel on Green Bay last night, and they still had lots of coffee and cocoa on clearance, including some Folgers coffee. In my J4U I got a coupon this week for $1.50 off any Folgers. I think they had the large cans of decaf Hills Brothers on clearance for $5 too. I think coffee and cocoa are on clearance at all the Jewels right now. A large container of Swiss Miss cocoa is on clearance for $2.48.

I've played the Flavor Adventure game both yesterday and today, and all I have won is some coupons and a few sweeps entries.
