The charity option is still available. I just gave all my unused tokens to charity. Not enough for a meal, but can't see just wasting them.

Jewel just posted on their Facebook page that fully vaccinated people do not have to wear a mask, and signage will be going up shortly. Apparently Mariano's does not require a mask either. I think I will still wear a mask. I think only 47% of the people in this state have been fully vaccinated.

None of the counties in the state have reached 50% fully vaccinated. DuPage has reached 47.01%. I think I will continue to wear my mask.

But more than 10 percent of the people in the state have actually had COVID -- which gives you the same level of immunity as having the vaccine. So that should be taken into consideration -- along with the fact that little kids don't spread the disease.

And since I've been vaccinated, assuming that vaccines work, it doesn't really matter what percentage are vaccinated. I'll wear a mask if I'm somewhere the people are nervous (such as the nursing home where my mom is), but if Jewel is okay with me not wearing a mask, I'm definitely leaving it in my purse.

I was at both CVS and Jewel tonight. CVS had a sign on their entrance stating that masks are required, and Whole Foods did too yesterday. The cashier at Jewel told me that employees will still be required to wear a mask at least for now. I did bring my own bag to Jewel though, and I offered to bag my groceries myself, and the cashier told me that the baggers are now allowed to put groceries in bags customers have brought to the store. I am glad to hear that. I hate to think about all of the plastic bags I have accumulated since the pandemic started. In the condo building I live in, we have been required to wear masks in the hallways and lobby for over a year, and that policy is still in effect.

Hear hear! It's about time for that, after the CDC said that contact with 'stuff' was unlikely to lead to infection. At least with the cloth bags, the baggers would load them up. I'm so sick of getting 47 bags each with one or two items in them because the next item down the belt is from a different department.

I heard it was the Union at Jewel that considered it not safe for the baggers to touch the customers cloth bags. Last summer I went to the self checkout lane at the Chicago Avenue store in Evanston, thinking I could get away with using my own bags, and the person in charge of self checkout said I was not allowed to use them. At the Jewels in Chicago, they charge you 7 cents per bag, and I did not know that and I had to pay 21 cents for bags that I could have done without. I had empty bags in my car that I could have brought into the store.

I just read on another board that Monopoly freebies have been extended to 6/8. I also heard that you can substitute the 32 ounce vinegar for the 16 ounce. When I was at Jewel on Sunday, they had tons of 8 ounce sour cream, whereas last week when I was with a friend of mine who I was going to give mine too, they were out of them. I called up Connections for the Homeless in Evanston, and they told me they can use the nail clippers, but the last time I looked Jewel was out of them. I might give them all the free water I won too.

I was at the Wilmette Jewel on Green Bay tonight, and they are still out of the nail clippers, but they had plenty of sour cream, and I redeemed my Monopoly coupons for facial tissue, and sparkling water. The fun with J4U is over. I only saved $2.66 on J4U including the two Monopoly prizes I got for free. I have been getting $.99 milk, $1.49 sugar, $.99 strawberries and $.29 eggs for at least two months. This week I did not get any of those deals. I had a personalized deal of $2.84 for milk, and I got a personalized deal on healthy choice dinners. I did get $.99 butter, but I did not need any butter.

When I entered the store tonight, I thought it was kind of strange that there was no sign telling people about the new mask policy for vaccinated people. As I was leaving the store though, I saw a small sign posted on the door I exited out of, telling customers that it is recommended that nonvaccinated people still wear masks in the store. All of the customers I saw at Jewel tonight were wearing masks.

Yeah, this week's coupons seemed tame. I ended up shopping at Tony's instead. No $10 over $50 or even last week's variation with $1 off in each of a bunch of departments.

I still saved 42% on my bill yesterday because there were several things I bought that were B1G1F. I still have lots of free Monopoly prizes to claim too before the 8th, including lots of water, some sour cream, French bread, BBQ sauce, and a package of seasoning mix along with the impossible to find nail clippers. I also needed to only spend another $1 to get up to $100 this month.

Did anybody get the $1.99 a pound sweet cherries at Jewel this week? I am glad I only got 1 1/2 pounds. They were soft. They had rainer which I like better too, but they were $6.99 a pound.

Hi- I just logged into my J4U account, and clicked on my list, and all of the Monopoly coupons that I redeemed already are back up on mylist, including the $25 GC that I redeemed earlier this month, and all of the $1 J4U I won on the pick three. Apparently their website is totally messed up right now, and other people report that things are reappearing on their my list and then disappearing while they are shopping in the store. I don't think any of those coupons that have reappeared on mylist will work if I try to use them at Jewel tonight.

The Saturday sampler and Friday freebie don't interest me this week. I still have a bunch of water to redeem before 6/8. Has anybody had any problems finding it? Hope this helps, Nancy

I've heard that they will not work if you try them at Jewel, but if you have an understanding cashier, she will make them work. I am sure most of their IT people are off for the holidays, and once they come back tomorrow, things will be fixed. I think this has been going on for at least 24 hours. I checked their Facebook page last night, and I did not see anything about this glitch.

The most interesting sale item this week is the buy-2-get-3-free Utz pretzels. The daisy-shaped ones are a sort of combination of pretzel and Ritz cracker texture, and the various forms of large hard ones are very good too.

Oh, and the kid was pretty stoked about the b2g3 Doritos, which can be mixed and matched with the pretzels. Memorial Day soda sale was a little lame at $2.99/12pack. I recall the days of $2.22 a couple years ago.

If you like to make Chicago style hot dogs at home, Vienna Beef's are $3.99 and Rosen's poppy seed buns are $2.49, both good prices for items that can get spendy to the point where it's almost cheaper to go to a hot dog stand.

I saw the Great Lakes potato chips were buy two, get three free too, and they had Michigan cherry potato chips which I was tempted to get, and take them to a family reunion in Michigan the end of the month, but there would be too much temptation during the 3 1/2 weeks they would be sitting in my kitchen. I looked at the reviews for them on Amazon, and the majority of the people loved them, but there were one or two people that did not care for them. They are made in Traverse City.

I won a two liter store brand of pop on the Monopoly game, but the only diet they have is cola, which I am not that excited about, and the pop is probably not that good too.

I find it is cheaper to get the 2 liter containers of pop than to get the cans, although they are not as recyclable. I usually only drink pop in the summertime, and if there is no deal on pop, I will make iced herb tea instead. I do have a 12 pack of cans I got really cheap a few months ago at Jewel that I have not opened up yet. I think maybe I paid $1 for them.

I won a free Signature cafe potato salad in the Monopoly game. The mustard one looks like it has the least amount of fat. Is it any good?

It is no better or worse than food service potato salad. When I won one, we had it with lunch. While I like the potato salad I make better, it was ok for the price.

Saturday Sampler is one of those energy drinks.

I never drink them, I store them until younger relatives visit. I learned they don't drink it either, but bring these to their coworkers who are quite happy.

At some point the chain is broken and the sampler is ingested!

    Hi,

Jewel in Highland Park advised those who are unvaccinated should wear a mask.

All employees wore masks. It was 50:50 on the patrons, though I did not see anyone challenging anyone to wear a mask.

I used self-checkout, there was an employee wiping down the stations between patrons.

For the first time in a long time, I was able to get a raincheck on an advertised sale item that was not present.

I was at the Jewel on Chicago Ave. in Evanston today. I redeemed over $18 worth of free items from the Monopoly game. You still have until 6/8 to redeem your items. The only thing I could not find today was the nail clippers. I was eligible for 15 bottles of water, but I only redeemed five. I also finally redeemed one of my french bread. I don't think a lot of people knew that they extended the redemption of the instant winners to 6/8, and that is why I was able to get most of my stuff.

About 90 % pf the customers were still wearing masks. The Jewel that I went to today even limited the number of customers in the store for a few months last year I guess technically you are not required to wear masks at Jewel if you are not fully vaccinated. They just recommend that you do. When I was at the Evanston farmers market yesterday, everyone was supposed to be wearing a mask, and in the inside square they were, but there were some younger people that took theirs off when they left that area, and moved to the outside square, and I saw some people that were not wearing their mask correctly, and there were lots of people that were not social distancing.
