I didn't ask. I'll be back before the sale ends, so I can at that point.

Website is loading very slow so be patient. I believe today is the last day this is being offered.

    Artie,

How did you learn of this? Was it direct from the producer coupon?

Sorry I missed it, though I am glad you make every effort to keep us informed.

    Thank you!

Actually, when I googled it, I discovered that it had been posted on slickdeals, which I visit occasionally. It sounds like it was a coupon where you supplied them with your address, and they mailed the coupon to you. Jewel, I believe does not take any free coupons that you have to print, but it should take this coupon. Since Mashup Mom closed her Facebook group a few months ago, I don't hear about deals like this as often. I think she still has her Almost Aldi Facebook group, but I don't go to Aldi's that much. Jewel still has the get a $5 store coupon if you buy $25 worth of selected frozen food. I already have $13 worth of frozen food. The Lean Cuisine is on sale for 4/$9, and there is a $1off 2 coupon on J4U. They also still have the 4 times the points on certain items. I got 4 times the points on the Dawn I bought last week, but it was only good on the large bottles.

Is the milk $2.99 at all of the Jewel's now? I have to go to Jewel this weekend, and I might stop in Aldi's first to see if it is any cheaper, and to get some more canned pumpkin. Whole Foods has their store PB on sale right now through 3/15.
One of my friends gets her kitty litter at Aldi's because it is cheaper, but they are often out of it. Is there any other cheap place to buy kitty litter? She could go to Pet Smart right next to Aldi's.

I just checked on Slick Deals, and somebody posted about the free eggs at 7:22pm yesterday, and 93,233 people at Slick Deals saw the deal, and crashed the Vital Farms site. It was supposed to run until 11:00am today, but they stopped the deal at 9:00am.

Jewel and Target milk prices seem to vary from store to store. The Target store on Peterson east of Western consistently has higher prices than the store at Addison and Sacramento.

I just checked Jewel and Target's website, and Jewel has 1% Jewel milk for $2.99, but their Lucerne milk is $3.49. Both of the Targets in Evanston have 1% milk for $3.19. I know both the Jewel locations in Wilmette often have more expensive milk than both the Evanston stores do. Aldi's I've heard has cheaper milk when the store is located across the street from a Walgreen's. I am trying to decide if it is worth my while to drive to the Skokie Mariano's store to save $1.25 a gallon.

Curious where these milks are from. Every milk bottle has a code representing where it's from — 17=Illinois, 55=Wisconsin, 18=Indiana. I doubt Chicagoland would get milk from other states often.

Food4Less has milk for $3.39. I just found out why milk is so expensive right now. Apparently feed for the cows got more expensive, and so a lot of dairy farmers cut down on the number of cows they had. Mariano's is the only store apparently that has a deal on milk. Whole Foods started charging $.20 more for their quarts of 365 plain yogurt recently, and they charge $2.99 for their Amy's frozen burritos now too.

I used to be able to get a can of Folger's or Hill's Brothers half calf coffee for $3.99. Now the cheapest I can find coffee for is $5.99.

They had something on CNN yesterday about how Phoenix has the worse inflation right now. Prices have gone up 10% in the last year.

So do you believe your cost of living has inflated less than 10% this last year? I think there is an attempt to minimize what is happening.

A little off topic, but I think inflation is much more than 10%/year. Depends a lot on what you buy, though. I've noticed that sale prices have moved up a lot and many items are not on sale any more. An example from Jewel: Last year the big Whole Eye of Round sale was $1.99/lb. This year it was $2.99. 50% jump. Likewise at Butera: in 2019, deli Swiss cheese was featured fairly regularly for $1.99/lb. Recently, $3.99/lb, 100% rise.

CNN said the average rate of inflation in this country is currently 7%. Yes, some prices have gone up a lot like gas, but since the pandemic started, I have found out that I drive a lot less, because several groups that I belong to are meeting via Zoom. I also have not gone out of eat much. I have only gone to one movie in the last two years, and it was a free one. I have only gone to one concert too, and that was a free one.

Yes, groceries are more expensive, but you can still find deals like the stuff they had for 50 cents at Jewel last week and the $1 Amy's burritos they had at Whole Foods last month. I bought 25 burritos.

The only complaint that I have is that Medicare does not pay for dental. I just had to have a root canal and a crown made.

Believe what you may, I do not accept 7% or 10%.

Last night, I needed about a third tank of fuel costing $20+ dollars at Woodmans, selling at $4.09 a gallon in Buffalo Grove or 50 cents cheaper than most.

Covid kept us home for the last two years, and now we have new reasons to stay home.

On the plus side, Dean's heavy cream dropped 30 cents from two weeks ago.

I bought bananas for 39 cents a pound at Jerry's, who was also offering three pints of blueberries for $1. Last week, I bought 12 pints. Yesterday, I bought 15 pints, though only six for me.

Nothing notable at Woodman's and especially no bananas, though I am up to my ears in blueberries.

Last time I was in Aldi's, bananas were $.48 a pound. They are $.59 a pound at Whole Foods. Whole Foods has better bananas. On a few occasions recently I have gotten a personalized deal on organic bananas for $.47 a pound at Jewel.

I'll pass on the blueberries. All of the blueberries now are imported, and I won't eat them. I still have a pound bag of frozen blueberries I got a few months ago at Jewel for $1, and I finally used up the last of the frozen bananas I got for free from my sister Annette 2 1/2 years ago that she got at Coloma frozen foods. She had them on clearance at her fruit stand and told me I could have two bags for free. I forgot I still had some.

It seems like oranges are more expensive now too. I might stop in at Aldi's, and see how much their applesauce is.

Hi- I gave a friend of mine a ride to the Chicago Avenue Jewel. I asked her when she got in the car, if she needed milk, and she said she just got milk at Aldi's on Saturday. I mentioned the cheap milk at Mariano's, and she did not want me to drive all the way out there to get cheap milk. Milk at Jewel was $2.99. Bananas were $.59 a pound. I did not see any deals on oranges, and the store was out of sale ads. I ended up getting 3 pounds of the heirloom navels for $4.99. Then I got two containers of the $1 strawberries, 1 bag of the $1 potatoes, and a container of the $1 organic mushrooms. I passed on the cabbage because I got a cabbage two weeks ago at Jewel for $.39 a pound. I also passed on the $1.99 peanuts because they have all kinds of stuff in them that I do not want. I don't go through a lot of peanuts anyway.

I ended up spending $51.00, and I saved 35%, but for some reason I got a total of 287 points, including 237 bonus points. I now have enough points for four rewards. My friend got as many bonus points as I did, but she spent $71. I am $15 of the way towards my $5 frozen food reward. You get one when you accumulate $25 worth of selected frozen foods. I think I get it for the Lean Cuisine. I rarely accumulate four rewards in one month. I got three times the points for all of the produce I purchased, and I got four times the points for the Edy ice cream, Lean Cuisine, and apparently a bunch of other stuff too.

According to the official press release, Starlight Coca-Cola “includes additional notes reminiscent of stargazing around a campfire, as well as a cooling sensation that evokes the feeling of a cold journey to space.”

    According to a blog:
Coca-Cola’s new limited-edition Starlight flavor is said to be just that. It is a “space-inspired Coca-Cola product” that is supposed to recreate the taste and feel of space. However, it’s hard to say what space is supposed to taste like. But, if you go by this beverage, space tastes kind of like minty cotton candy sprinkled with vanilla, and has a sort of red tint. It’s pleasantly sweet and candy-like and just a bit fruity, which is excellent if that’s what you are going for.

As far as personalized deals go, I got $.55 organic bananas, $2.09 pineapple, and $1.65 quarts of Luverne yogurt. I did not get any bonus points for purchasing produce or meat. Other than the pineapple and bananas, I don't see any produce that I am crazy about anyway, unless the organic strawberries look good. I bought two quarts of the $1 Florida strawberries on Monday, and they are not that good.
