I rarely see these things before I read them here so I was excited. Got my ice cream this morning!

Yup, good supply of Tillamook at the north Waukegan Jewel. Also, there's a Just4U free Oikos Pro yogurt (for the professional yogurt eater?) plus, as Nancy pointed out, 50 cent store brand pasta, 89 cent French bread and $2.49 Coke 12 packs.

I did not get the free yogurt. I just checked. I did just realize that the $2.49 coke deal is also good on sprite, and so I might get that. I also got $.49 2 liter of 7 up, and B1G1F on McCain's. I also got a ton of deals on gift cards. If I purchase the gift card, I get 8 times the number of points. That means I could get 400 points for each $50 card I purchase, but it does not specifically say which restaurants are included in the fast food one, and there are a few others like that. There are also some donation ones for St. Judes and Habitat for Humanity and a few other charities. I got a $4.99 specialized price for Folgers, and I have a $1.50 Folgers coupon, but I already have a can of Hills Brothers I have not opened up yet, and so I will see if it is a bonus ticket item.

I went to the Wilmette Green Bay Jewel today. I got lots of groceries. I spent $63, and so I was able to use my get two rewards if you spend $50. Now I am only 3 points away from earning another reward. Is it worth my while to go to Jewel to spend $3 by Wednesday?

I had a lot of good personal deals this week that I used. I got a personalized deal of $1.49 for Skippy and I noticed that some of them had a $.35 coupon attached to it, but the coupon expired over a month ago. I was supposed to get 17 Monopoly tickets, but she gave me 19 today. I just entered them. I won another bottle of water, and another loaf of french bread, and I also won $1 to be applied to my J4U account, and I got 24 tokens, and a Shutterfly coupon, and a bunch of coupons some of which I might use. I got two $.50 coupons for Prego, and it is on sale right now for $1.50. I now have a grand total of 79 tokens. I don't know if this game is worth it this year. I noticed four people have won $10,000 so far this year, including one person who shops at Jewel

They have a list of the winners so far for the Monopoly game on the shopplaywin site. Four people so far have won $10,000 to pay their property taxes, and that is the highest prize given out so far. I noticed though that only one of the prize winners was an instant win. The other three were digital pick three squares winners. I looked at the rules, and apparently there is a specific time people are given the option to win one of the big prizes, and if it is made available to somebody, but they don't pick the correct squares, then another person gets an opportunity to win the prize, and this continues until somebody picks the correct three squares. I would be really upset if I had a chance to win $10,000 on the digital pick three squares, and I did not pick the correct squares. The million dollar prize though is an instant win prize, and if nobody claims it, then they have a second chance drawing. All I won yesterday was free water, a free loaf of french bread and $1 out of 19 tickets. Every year I ask myself why am I wasting my time on this game, but I still play it. It seems like last year at least I got a $25 gift card, and I think I won $10.

If I had to guess, the pick three squares portion of the game is just a gimmick. I think that regardless of what 3 squares you pick you are either going to be a winner or not based on the code you scanned/entered. When you enter the code, it is already determined if you won the prize or not, the picking of squares is just for "theatre". So when you pick your three, it reveals the other six hidden prizes and "yay, i won" or "darn, just missed....if only". This is the equivalent of getting the last sticker to complete the series.

So tonight I went into the Howard Av "Kosher Jewel". I sort of understand kosher and kosher-for-Passover foods, but I don't get the aisle signed kosher foil pans. Can someone please explain?

Aluminum foil pans may be coated with a substance that is problematic for kashrut.

I am disappointed that I got mostly the same personalized deals as I did last week. How many bags of $1.49 sugar can one person use? I also got the$1.49 Skippy, $.99 butter, $.49 2 liter pop, $1.49 Doritos, and $2.49 for 12 cans of pop, and a bunch of gift card deals. On the jewelosco.com website, if you follow the "Offer Details" link in a just for U offer, Qualifying Products are often listed. I did not know that Jewel had partnered with Revolution Brewing on an Anti-Hero Beer Brat.

For the $1.99 Jewel sausage offer, I see 3 options for Jewel chicken sausage. It might be dependent on local store inventory if chicken sausage does not appear as a qualifying product.

Hi- I went to the Jewel on Chicago Ave. in Evanston yesterday, and they did not have the chicken sausage, but the Wilmette store might have had it. I like the Green Bay Wilmette store better. Also there is a limit of one on the sausage, and so the B1G1F would not have worked. One for $1.99 is okay though if the store has it. Right now my freezer is packed though, and so I would have to use it up this week.

I think the B1G1F would work even though the sausage is limit 1 at the coupon price. The first one would ring up at the coupon price, then the second would ring at the regular price but be marked down to $0. If it didn't work properly automatically, I find the managers are normally willing to adjust for reasonable requests.

On a Facebook group I post on, somebody tried doing the $1.99 and the B1G1F on the sausage, and it did not work. Somebody else said that they went to self checkout, and only bought the sausage, and scanned the sausage, and then entered in the phone number and it worked. They did not have the chicken sausage anyway, and so I passed. If they had the chicken sausage, I might have just bought one. I don't have any room in my freezer for the other one, and plus I already have two packages of chicken sausage right now. They had Amylu sausage on sale for $3.99 anyway, and I would much rather have that.

Looks like the Toasted Oats sampler item is fake Cheerios. Probably fine if you like plain Cheerios.

Interesting coupon specials. I've had 50 cent Signature Select pasta in my personalized coupons for the last 2 weeks. With my personalized $1.99 Deans IC+B1G1F, not to mention the free Word of the Day Tilamook IC Word of the Day, which was not limited to one per customer , there's not much room in my freezer for the $1.88 Edys or Haagen Daz. Wonder if I'll get more 99 cent butter coupons again tomorrow?

I don't have a large freezer. I need to pitch some stuff in my freezer that has been there way too long. I did not get the specialized price on the Deans, and I did not make a special trip there for the free ice cream. The Edy's ice cream, I have a $.50 Monopoly coupon for, and so it will only cost me $1.38. I actually spent $4.99 on Saturday on Kemps frozen yogurt. Nothing that was on sale was low fat. I usually only buy Kemps frozen yogurt or Edy's low fat ice cream. A few stores have low fat Signature Select cookie dough, but neither one of the Jewels I go to the most carry it, and I am not a fan of vanilla

I just checked to see what personalized prices I have, and they are mostly different than the ones I have had for the last two weeks. The only one that repeated itself was the $1.49 sugar. I have a personalized price of $.50 for Signature pasta, and a $.50 0ff one pasta, and so that means free pasta. I also have milk for $.99 a gallon, strawberries for $.99 and $10 off of $50, and eggs for $.29 a dozen. I also have 2 times the points for produce.

In the underwhelming category, last week I got a personalized price of 49 cents for Yoplait cups. That's a decent price and my kid eats a ton of them, so I bought six. Surprise surprise the 49 cent price was for a limit of 1. So I saved 11 cents.

No more 99 cent butter this week. Got another 99 cent Nature Valley granola bars, though. The bar (pile) is set pretty high. Wish I got some of the 29 cent eggs and 99 cent milk.

For the strictly observant they seek assurance that anything that comes in contact with food has been certified as acceptable. That includes foil pans, plastic and other wraps, parchment paper - you name it. If you look hard enough you'll see kosher certification on dish soap packages as well. There's no implication that they would otherwise contain anything objectionable,* it's just an assurance that someone has checked into it and it's okay. There's a "just do it" aspect to keeping kosher where you don't spend too much time thinking about the "why."

*someone once mentioned something to me of concerns about use of animal-based lubricants on machinery - of which I was highly suspect.

I found in my account a coupon for Edy's ice cream for $1.88, which I overlooked or was included later. I also have a Dean's ice cream for $1.99.

I saved $12.69 yesterday using J4U. I went to the Wilmette Jewel on Green Bay, and they had bananas on sale for $.39, which was an unadvertised sale. They also had one pound bags of Green Giant One Step Done and Mashers on sale for $3, and then they had a J4U price of $2, and then some of them had $1 off coupons on the front of the bags, and so I got a roasted red pepper with mini yellow potatoes bag for $1. These are in the produce section next to the bags of potatoes. You put the bag in the microwave for 6 minutes.

I got 31 Monopoly tickets yesterday, and I won a bottle of water, a nail clipper, another French bread, a bottle of sparkling water, a jar of Skippy, a box of O Organics water crackers, a package of lip balm, and a Shutterfly ornament. That makes four French breads, four waters, and three nail clippers. I also got 22 tokens. Now I have enough tokens to get a $5 GC. Hopefully they will have another double ticket day before the game is over. I only spent $32.71, and so I could not use my $10 off $50 J4U coupon. Hope this helps, Nancy

I got a $.50 off one 5.3 oz. container Dannon Light and Fit, Oikos or Oikos triple zero yogurt Monopoly coupon yesterday. Do they ever put that on sale for close to $.50 at Jewel?

I tried to just log into my J4U account, and it says that J4U is experiencing some technical difficulties, and is currently off line. It has been offline all day at all of Albertson's stores including Jewel and Safeway. They are currently working on it.

I finally went through my stack of Monopoly tickets. Every year I wonder why I play given how little I win. This year will be the last time. I was having problems scanning the bar codes so ended up entering them manually. Out of that, I won two boxes of tissues, ice cream or sorbet, water and hot dog buns. Plus the instant winner of a loaf of French bread. So no worth the time.

Saturday when they had double tickets, I did better. So far I have won four French bread, one hamburger bun, four bottles of water, three nail clippers, two $1 J4U, one free skippy, one lip balm, and one bottle of sparkling water. I only have 107 tokens though, and so I doubt I will get enough to get a $25 GC. Last year I was able to. I don't think as many are playing the game this year, and they don't like the fact that it is all online, and you have to belong to J4U to play. A lot of Seniors have especially been frustrated, and don't realize you can manually enter in the codes, and assume because they don't have a smart phone, they cannot play. Hope this helps, Nancy
