Rick Bayless YouTube channel

Chef Bayless has started a paid subscription YouTube channel. For $4.99 month you get access to instructional videos. There are numerous Bayless videos available on YouTube, and these are the same, only now he's charging. For $9.99 a month you get, in addition, access to live video sessions where you cook a meal in real time with Chef Bayless and get the chance to ask questions along the way.

The great part about this (to me) is that the proceeds all go to help support his staff. There are enough Bayless videos online to last a lifetime (his website is great), but getting access to more, and supporting a good cause, is a win win.

Last night was the first live session and it lasted about an hour. We cooked a delightful seafood soup/stew and also made a garlic jalapeno salad dressing. I didn't ask any questions, but I enjoyed having his narration as I cooked, and the meal was excellent.

Do you have insight as to how many people were cooking along with you ?

I saw his video touting the service, but did not understand it.

I do not know how many people were cooking along during the Bayless session. It's a live YouTube session, not a Zoom call. There were several questions asked, and 5 or 6 people posted photos on Instagram of their finished dishes, but that doesn't enable me to estimate anything. Why does the number of people participating matter (maybe there is some additional info I can provide)?

It doesn't matter. I was just curious how successful this venture was.

You got me curious so I looked and there are over 14,000 views of the video of the live session. I think you need to be a subscriber to see that, so it would seem (but I'm not sure) they've gotten over 14,000 subscribers.

~97,800 subscribers to the channel and just over 14,000 views of the most recent video, so far . . .
