Assuming that Damatos is too far away, are there any markets or bakeries or delis a little closer that have nice crusty airy Italian bread?

I've seen loaves of damatos bread at harvestime foods on Lawrence. I'm assuming they get daily deliveries

Thank you! This is why I adore this community here.

I don’t know why I didn’t think of this sooner but your post inspired me to call D’amato’s themselves.

Your answer is correct they do deliver to Harvesttime on Lawrence.

They also sell at marketplace in Skokie on Oakton — that’s the farthest north I think they go.

I recommend everybody to try a loaf — preferably fresh out of the oven at their stronghold on Grand.

I remember seeing it there and being happy that I didn't have to trek out to damatos in traffic.

Of course, that meant no Italian subs to consume too. :(
