Post #1 - April 30th, 2022, 11:57 amWith farmers' markets starting up again it is time to start a new thread for this year.
Lincoln Square will again have Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon markets starting May 3 and 5 respectively. Tuesday markets now run from 7:00 am to noon (rather than 1:00 pm previously). Tuesday markets are scheduled through November, Thursday through October.

The grower lists have asterisks for vendors planning to attend May markets. Very few growers will be there in May. Mick Klug Farm and Dotson's Farm are scheduled for both markets. Josh Dotson raises a lot of herb and bedding plants in his greenhouse but probably will not have much in the way of vegetables soon due to the weather pattern in the last few weeks.

It finally might be Henry Brockman’s year.
As commercial farmers battle record-high fertilizer prices, seed shortages and huge spikes in gas and construction costs, Brockman — who has operated Henry’s Farm, an organic farm in downstate Congerville since 1993 — has been diversifying, rotating 650 crops and using his own methods without store-bought fertilizer.
This year, he already has begun loading his truck with spinach and herbs as he does every spring and delivering his produce weekly to the Evanston Farmers’ Market.
“Pretty much no matter what happens with the economy, it doesn’t really have any effect on me,” said Brockman, whose core business strategy is his CSA, or community-supported agriculture program, which delivers customers weekly farm boxes all season for one upfront fee. He also sells produce at the Evanston market.

Post #7 - May 13th, 2022, 1:53 pmHi- Henry operates his truck that he brings to the Evanston market on vegetable oil that I assume he gets for free. He is the only person I know that comes to Evanston that does this though. I don't know how much Henry is bringing to market tomorrow though. He will have a lot more in two weeks. His CSA starts in two weeks. His sister Teresa is bringing a bunch of organic veggie plants up tomorrow. Her plants are wonderful.
