I learned today that as of 1/2/2021 Costco will no longer cash the Executive Member's refund "checks". They can only be used for membership payment or store purchases.

They did stop letting you get cash back from your debit card, when using it for payment. Sigh.

We are on a two week Costco Niles cycle and yesterday was slightly weird. 8:30am not one single car in line for gas, zero, nada, none. I thought it might be closed, nope, just eerily vacant of customers. Oftentimes there are 5-6 cars lined up at each pump, and there are a lot of pumps.

Costco Niles store right at 9am for old folks hour, three people in line to get in, often times there are 20-30 people. Store was well stocked, lots of everything including beef. Packs of prime or choice rib-eye/strip steaks, $7.99 choice $15.99 prime. I sorted though the choice and bought 4 huge well marbled choice strips for just under $40. Cooked two, froze two. One for dinner split, was very good, the other cooked for lunch sandwiches and salad the next day. Hard to beat the value ratio, especially if one takes the time to separate wheat from chaff.

Hey Joel. I asked and was told that you could buy a bag of candy and get the rest of the money back as change. So you just have to buy something with the refund check to get the rest back as change.

i dont buy costco rotisserie chickens. i'd rather pay a little more and not support the cruel business of factory farmed chickens. the NYTimes reports about an undercover investigation into costco's chickens.

I'm not questioning you or your decision. I just wonder if any grocery store chicken is farmed with any better practices.

Whole Foods rotisserie chicken is supposed to be all free range, and Jewel has some rotisserie chicken that is more expensive that is supposed to be free range. I have had Whole Foods rotisserie chicken before, and I think it is good, but I think the Chicago Tribune gave it low marks.

the whole foods rotisserie chickens in my experience have been overcooked and dry at both the lincoln park store and the ashland store, but it's been years since i was willing to take a chance on one. i have bought the higher priced ones at jewel, but they rarely have them.

Has anyone tried the Costco brownies? I'm told they are talked about quite a bit on FB. I bought some. Not bad, but nothing to go all fanboy/girl over to my tastes. More of a fudge type brownie. I think they need ice cream, vanilla, to go with them.
