Grow up in suburbs > Attend Big Ten University (not Illiinois) > Move to Lincoln Park.

A most common path, mine included. For many being 22 years old in Lincoln Park is an easy progression from college. Instead of class you have work, and it's even more acceptable to spend everything on booze because it's your money and not your parents. This leads to actually more late-night eating then college because you have to "coat your stomach to sober up for the 8 a.m. sales meeting tomorrow".

From that leads to the options - TBX for a burrito. Awful pizza places on Lincoln for slices. El Presidente if you want to be waited on. Allende if heading to the gf's place. Taco Burrito House if heading home. The Vu for big glasses of Crown. Nookies for breakfast food. Greek place at Lincoln and Halsted for gyros. Wiener Circle for good dogs, huge orders of fries, all covered (with an extra side) of Merkts Cheddar (it's been five years I remember it being Merkt's correct me if I'm wrong). And some sass. Some stupid game that everyone is involved in. It's an adult version of Ed Debevics. Some people really enjoy it. I personally remember just enjoying the food, which is pretty good.

Actually wouldn't be a bad nomination for a GNR. It has longevity, almost an institution. It does something very well that doesn't much exist in it's neighborhood (I'd call it the best dog stand in LP). Uses high quality ingredients, Vienna. Has good functional service. Has character. The neighborhood would be at a loss without it. The beat up picnic tables, flickering menu board, parking in the back, makes it pretty kick ass. The fact that they have to put on a "show" three hours a night to pay the rent in that neighborhood, understandable.

I think you make the best defense of WC possible up until "the neighborhood would be at a loss without it." Which makes me realize that a neighborhood isn't always a homogenous thing. LP has lots of suburb>big 10 citizens, but it also has lots (maybe even a majority) of folks who don't fit that demo-sociographic. Folks who, let's just say, would not mourn the loss of Wiener's Circle. So, while I can go along with a smaller statement like "many of the twenty-something suburban-born LP residents, and maybe even a number of other people, would find themselves bereft if the Wiener's Circle weren't there," I can't go along with "the neighborhood would be at a loss without it." Not the whole neighborhood. Especially if the whole neighborhood saw that film.

    Riddle,

I would say it's along the lines of 24% would be at a loss who had seen the film, 29% would not be at a loss who had seen the film, 52% would not be affected either way, 33% of the general neighborhood would be at a loss with 58% under 22-years of age most affected, 31.5% would not notice and the zen centric would have one with everything and be on their way.

    Enjoy,

I would say that's a reductio ad absurdum of my point, but, since it adds up to so much more than 100, I guess it's really an enlargio ad absurdum! :)

The Wiener's Circle, Chicago's legendarily abusive late-night hot-dog stand, has gotten the reality show that was probably inevitable.

The six-episode series, called “The Wiener’s Circle,” begins on Tru TV Tuesday at 9 p.m. The cable channel did not make the show available for preview, but it says the series is six episodes long and was shot last fall

I watched five minutes of the first episode and it was incredibly boring. Don't waste your time.
