FDA drops it's definition of French Dressing citing opportunities for innovation.
Previously it was defined as at least 35% oil, plus vinegar and lemon or lime (lime?), with tomato or paprika additives.

The article also says that FDA dropped its definition of cherry pie the day before.

    Hi,

Somewhere in my files, I have MIL specs for pie crust.

I remember reading about frozen pizza from Wolfgang Puck. To use the word pizza, they needed to have tomato sauce. To fulfill the government requirement, they had someone with a demitasse spoon dripping itty bitty amounts of tomato sauce onto their pizzas. Absent of this, they would be obligated to not use 'Pizza' on the label.

After more than 70 years, the FDA is dropping its regulation for French dressing.
