yah it is fairly easy to find in this region, but i agree it's not the same. (yet still probably better IMO than regular Heinz). the factory for Brook's used to be in downstate IL (in Collinsville, where the giant 'catsup' bottle still is--brook's is a 'catsup' place not ketchup). they still have the catsup bottle, but the brand has been sold and resold. It's now owned by Bird's Eye Foods, which you may recognize in the frozen veggie aisle. The ketchup itself is made in Canada but has HFCS in it now.

also, to revisit my "canadian ketchup" is better, "what is liquid sugar" post. It's not HFCS as others somewhere guessed/assumed, it's actually sugar. I found this fairly recent post on another food forum, which I find helpful in a number of ways (including that the breakdown of Heinz in the US, and that our organic ketchup actually comes from Canada but is made with Californian tomatoes):

In other ketchup news: Lunch today at GNR Patty's Diner revealed that Kroger Ketchup is now being offered. This is a rare chance for Chicago bound ketchup lovers to try an out of market brand. Sorry, I can't comment on the taste because, although I've seen it used for eggs, I didn't want any on my two scrambled easy.

FYI I believe Kroger ketchup is also available at Food4Less.

I was at New York Bagel and Bialy the other night. I was wearing a Mustard Museum t-shirt. The counter guy was pretty amused, then shared a new use for ketchup: He works for a restaurant nearby whose clients will slather catsup on their pancakes.

O.k., so it may be an absurd question. The answer, however, is probably…but it may not be what you think.

We were in Texas a few weeks ago and my daughter noticed that the ketchup tasted 'funny'. Of course all tables everywhere had Hunts brand. We in Illinois seem to favor Heinze. She thought it was too sweet.

I bought this a while ago, and have not been able to find it in stores since.

Online is too expensive. This was the best ketchup I've tasted so far. I now use Aldi Simply Organic stuff, and it's good. But not this good! I can of course add them together, but I don't always get the proportions tight!

Heinz Seeking Man Who Survived on Ketchup While Lost at Sea

Heinz is on the hunt for a man named Elvis.

The food company has put out a call on social media, asking if observers can help them track down this individual, who they describe as a “brave sailor.”

According to CBS News, Elvis Francois drifted out to sea while working on his boat on the shores of St. Maarten back in December and was unable to navigate back.

After scrawling the word “help” on the back of his boat, he was left with nothing to do but wait to be rescued.

Eventually discovered by the Colombian Navy, he reported that he’d survived the 3+ weeks on little more than a bottle of ketchup and some seasonings.

Now Heinz wants to send Francois a gift they described as a “new, state-of-the-art boat … equipped with full navigational technology to avoid another disaster in the future."
