    A few pre-party notes:

First, a reminder to be thinking about your entries to the gift exchange. Everyone who brings a gift will get a gift and since everything is distributed via a drawing, no need to wrap if you don’t want to. Just remember the guideline spend is $20-25 and food & beverage related gifts are encouraged.

We need 2 volunteers to distribute the exchange tickets as people arrive. Just PM me if you can help—if one can work from 6:00 to 6:30 and the other from 6:30 to 7:00, that would be perfect.

Name tags will be self-service—we’ll have them by the front entrance.

Don’t forget, our party is BYO—Ethan will provide some special mixers and garnishes if folks want to DIY cocktails. Sparkling wines; crisp whites; light/medium bodied, fruity reds; pretty much any rose’ and beers with a similar profile will pair well with the menu.

And last, but not least, don’t forget that our food drive is virtual this year: https://myfooddrives.org/fundraiser/5043626 is our link —we appreciate everyone’s generosity in bringing food to those in need as we celebrate the season.

    See you Thursday!

Since it has now gone public, I can now inform you why I am not coming to the LTH Holiday Party.
My time here on LTHF goes back to 2010.
But my time attending First Thursday, or as it was commonly spoonerized, "Thirst Fursday", goes back to 1989. I came of age beerwise attending these monthly soirees. I may make the concerted effort to not buy Goose Island brews, including Bourbon County, since it was bought by Anheuser Busch inBev, but there are times when my overriding love and study of history overrides topics.
I have to be at Goose Island Clybourn this Thursday night.
If you look back in this thread, you should espy a reply from me chagrining the choice of this date. You could have chosen a Friday night. You could have chosen a Saturday or Sunday at 3:00 pm.
But you did not. You compelled me to have to make a choice on this night. And you likely know from personal experience, that if you give people a choice, they may not make the choice you wanted them to.
I hope the LTHF Holiday Party is prosperous and successful.
I remain available for other LTHF assemblages (as long as they are not before 12:01 pm ~ I do not do mornings). I thank you.

I was also thinking about Hannukah candles.

Did we finalize a headcount? I had a friend who was interested if a last minute add was possible.

So I guess there's the question about whether the restaurant is cool with open flames in the dining area.

If so, then I think multiple menorahs could be fun. Happy to bring mine if it's kosher :)

Last night someone mentioned there were eight lit menorahs in someone's apartment. Their landlord said it was tempting fate and please reduce to a few.

    Hi all,

Just stating my personal preference here but I'd like to keep our holiday party as secular as possible, so maybe no open flame or open prayer? How about an electric menorah as a decorative component and we call it day? :)

    Thanks,

What a lovely evening that was! A huge thanks to Jen and to Ethan & Team Hermosa for putting it together, and thanks to everyone who helped out at the event and to those who attended. Also, a big thanks to all who donated to the virtual food drive for GCFD. Our current total is an impressive $3,533, more than twice our initial goal. Way to go, LTH! :)

It was such a pleasure seeing so many familiar faces, along with a few I hadn't seen in a while, and it was also great meeting some folks whom I'd never met before. The food was just fantastic from beginning to end.

More -- including some pics -- to come but for now, I just wanted to just wanted to thank everyone who made this wonderful event possible.
