Our April lunch will be at a brand new place in Wilmette, so new it isn't even open yet! (Their opening day is this Thursday, February 29.) It's very promising because of the key individuals behind Evadean's Bakery and Café: husband-and-wife couple chef Garrett and baker Jordana, and her father, chef Jory Downer. Garrett started working as a sous chef at Farmhouse Tavern and worked his way up to executive chef at Farmhouse Evanston, which coincidentally formerly occupied the site of last month's ELG™ lunch at Evanston Corner Bistro. Jordana is a graduate of the French Pastry School in Chicago. Jory's father, Guy Downer, bought Bennison's Bakery in Evanston in 1967, and Jory has been working there since 1975. Jory won the grand prize at the Coupe du Monde de la Boulangerie in Paris in 2005.

As always, all are welcome to join us! If possible, please post a note if you're planning to attend, so that we can reserve the appropriate size table for the group.

    Evadean's Bakery and Café
    1115 Central Ave
    Wilmette, IL 60091
    (224) 408-2695

EDIT: We have moved this lunch back a month because it is the perfect venue for our customary April festivities. :)

Please note, we have moved our Evadean's lunch to April (date TBD) and our March 19 lunch will be at Taste of Nepal.

Depends on the date, but I will make it if I can.
Toast, as every breakfaster knows, isn't really about the quality of the bread or how it's sliced or even the toaster. For man cannot live by toast alone. It's all about the butter. -- Adam Gopnik

I'm bumping this topic as a reminder that we have a date (April 16) for our April lunch at Evadean's. All are welcome!

    EDIT: Now April 15

The 16th is problematic for me. We have a faculty meeting scheduled that day, but sometimes those are cancelled or are basically filled with announcements. I might not know until a few days before.

Can you make it if we move it to Monday April 15?

I don't know whether I can make it April 15. I need to see my surgeon that day but won't know what time until I see him on April 1.

I think that it makes sense to keep the date as is, rather than waiting until April. I will attend if I can. (I am free on April 15th, but others may have conflicts).

Okay, let's see what happens on April 1. If I can make an appointment that doesn't conflict with lunch, we'll switch it.

I'm in. (Maybe with +1, but we will see).

I’ll be there. My multiple experiences at Evadean’s this month have been very enjoyable and I’m looking forward to trying more of their offerings in the cafe AND the bakery. Every time I’ve been there it’s been really busy, even 15 minutes before closing.
