Wayfair, the "online department store", recently opened their first bricks-and-mortar location, in Edens Plaza in Wilmette. Inside the store, they opened a restaurant, called The Porch at Wayfair. That's where we're going in September! They offer indoor as well as outdoor dining, so we'll get seated wherever it makes sense. I haven't found much (i.e. any  ) information about the restaurant on their website, other than a brief mention on the Wayfair Wilmette website.

As always, all are welcome to join us! If possible, please post a note if you're planning to attend, so that we can grab the appropriate size table for the group.

There’s a photo of the menu in their Yelp review.

I will be there, looking forward to Couch Potatoes. :D

    I’ll be there.
I had lunch here with friends in early July and enjoyed the grilled chicken chipotle sandwich with homemade chips.

    Hi,

I will be in South Dakota returning on the second. If I do not divert to Kansas, I will be there.

Sorry for such a convoluted response.

    Regards,

That is quite a long diversion.

For those who haven't been to the Wayfair store, there is a dinnerware section in the first floor middle visible from the restaurant. The cookware, gadgets etc department is upstairs. Worth a quick look - quality is in the Kohls or Homegoods range with slightly higher prices. As far as I could tell it's ok to shop with a drink.

    Hi,

Did not divert to Kansas. I did drive about 1400 miles since Saturday morning. Just cannot muscle up the enthusiasm to drive anywhere presently.

I will miss your company, but my Mom will be glad to have mine.

    Have fun!

Unfortunately, our car is still in the shop (we thought we'd get it this a.m.) So Moetchandon and I won't be able to attend, but we'll see you next month.

But Cathy, they have couches - or so I'm told.

Our little group shared 2 of the 4 sandwich offerings but they were out of my favorite. What we ordered is in nsxtasy’s post on The Porch thread.
Several weeks ago I was able to enjoy their Chipotle Chicken Melt and can recommend that. It had a freshly grilled chicken breast, pepper Jack cheese, pickled peppers, arugula and chipolte aioli on grilled country bread. Accompanied by their very good “homemade”(?)potato chips, it’s a satisfying choice with lots of flavor.
