The Meat-Centric feast documented by MarlaCollinsHusband has generated interest and conversation at LTH lunches and dinners since then.

For $50/person (minimum of 3 people), you get ribeye steaks, four different cuts of short rib, and some brisket at the end. On top of that, you get some top-notch ban-chan, an egg souffle, your choice of kimchi-jjigae or doenjang-jjigae, and a salad with housemade ssam-jang. You also get what they call volcano fried rice, which comes out as a mountain-shaped pile of seasoned yellow rice that is then cooked with egg on the table and pressed into the pan to ensure some crispy bits. I was absolutely stuffed before the meal was over but if they'd put more in front of us, I'd have kept eating.

There was one dud - the bibim-naengmyeon had virtually no heat at all.

Join us on the 16th for the meat feast. Those of you want want to do the food exchange thing, you know the drill.

But note the text of the post currently says March 15th, which is a typo.

I see the typo has been corrected.

Enjoyed the feast a couple of weeks ago with mbh & petite gourmande—we were the 3-person minimum so didn’t have a choice but it was a TON of food and we didn’t order any extra dishes. So you can definitely order the feast for less than your full party, particularly if you plan to try any of the other menu items.

    Hi,

I made a reservation under Cathy at 5 pm. It is a little early to do this, but our luck with having restaurants open when we want has been challenging lately.

If someone does want to join us, please let us know.

    Regards,
    Cathy2

My contribution to the exchange is a stuffed turkey thigh I am road testing. Whatever it turns out like, there is a portion for nr706.

    Hi,

Finally this day has come! Bring cash if you can.

I am switching my contribution from stuffed turkey thighs (ready for next month, but not today) to:

“Krautfleckerln,” Cabbage & Noodles from Vienna: Friedrich Kantor-Berg’s (aka Torberg) Famous Character Tante Jolesch and Her Legendary Dish, of Which There Was Never Enough!

    See you all soon!

April 27 is suggested date for next month. Other date that works for me is the 13th.

The 27th makes sense. The 13th is Palm Sunday, which might affect some.

I had thought we selected Ming Hin in Rolling Meadows. But I am open to other selections.

It was boudreaulicious! :D I would go back again for the meat and for the volcano rice.

    Unfortunately, no photos.

Dave148 verified it is dim sum all day at Ming Hin. Unless you have a new place to suggest and check on, it will be Ming Hin.

In retrospect, I should have taken photos — the layout of the various meats was gorgeous. The only downside was the issue with the check at the end of the meal.

I liked their seafood pancake (Haemul pajeon) so much that I went there today to eat another one for lunch. The best feature is the very tender octopus.
