    Hi,

I talked to Cateme who would love to attend, but has a work appointment elsewhere. If that blows up, we will see her.

It's been a good five years since our last visit to Cap't's, and looking at the menu now there seem to be fewer choices for the combo. Jumbo shrimp has always been my go-to in the past, but now it's really only catfish as an appealing pairing, when I really would have preferred perch, walleye or blue gill.

And speaking of...have we ever determined whether their breaded fish is fresh or flash-frozen? In reality, doesn't really matter because it's good. Just wanted to know. And...have there ever been smelt on the menu? Seem to remember it at one point.

I hate to be one of those guys that requests non-menu changes, but with this group I'm in good company with that ilk. I'll pay a couple bucks more to get what I want. We'll see.

What I pay attention to the Jumbo Gulf shrimp: it is weighed then hand breaded. The less expensive shrimp is (or at least was) frozen breaded food service.

Long ago, Dino told me they bought large quantities of Gulf Shrimp when the price was favorable, then kept them in commercial freezers in Chicago.

What I do look forward to are their greens.

When Captain Porky's was a more modest operation on Sheridan Road, you could have lengthy conversations as your food was prepared.

The things I've never seen at the Wadsworth/41 location that I loved on Sheridan were the fried house made goat cheese and fried foraged maitake/hen of the woods mushrooms

I just looked at Captain Porky's Menu: https://www.captainporky.com/captain-porkys-menu/

They have perch, walleye, blue gill or smelt priced per half- and full-pound, though it is not an option in the $18.99 combo.

In the menu it states all seafood is breaded to order.
