Yes, I was out of the country for the last one, so I'd love to join in this year.

    zoid,

If you have a few dates in mind, you could use http://www.doodle.com/ to help pick a date that works for most. Otherwise if you willing to organize, then pick a date that works for you.

Depending on what is happening elsewhere in my life, I plan to participate.

    Thanks for thinking about this!

    Regards,
    Cathy2

If you are planning it, then you should pick a date that is good for you and run with it. No matter what date you pick, it will be bad for some and good for others :)

Probably better to choose a date in fall, but not too close to the picnic.

The unfortunate truth is that I really am that busy and will most likely not be able to attend.

    So here's my suggestion...
I will initially set up a doodle with both Friday-Saturday options as well as Saturday-Sunday options staring say the first weekend in October. That should give the outdoor grilling/festival season time to slow down and also give ample planning time to decide on an itinerary and arrange rides/carpooling for those interested.

If we get a real standout we’ll go with that date, otherwise I’ll pick the 2 or 3 most popular and we’ll vote for the winner.

    Any objections?

It sounds good. I would prefer it sticks to the 21st & 22nd, because the 23rd April is the rescheduled date for the Chicago Beer Society's Brewpub Shootout, which attracts a number of beer and food enthusiasts from LTHF. :o
