Celebrate the beginning of Spring in the lovely western suburbs for the 43rd Dessert Exchange. I can accommodate 10 people, so the guest list is for nine people plus myself.

I will provide a light supper and beverages. (Please let me know if you have any food allergies, intolerances or are off-limit.) You bring one dessert of at least 10 servings and a couple of containers in which to take your share of dessert home. Let's think Spring in our desserts this month.

    1. Ms. Ingie - Dessert Empanadas
    2. Pairs4life - Chocolate Chip Cookies?
    3. Pie Lady - California Avocado Cake with Raspberry Filling and Lime Buttercream
    4. Toria - French Yogurt Cake or Double Chocolate Banana Bread
    5. mrsm - Orange rolls
    6. Oma - No dessert, just conversation.
    7. SueF - Ricotta Pie
    8. ParumMorsus - Mini French Silk Pies
    9.
    10.

In for 1. And I'm still vegetarian. Thanks Ingrid. The Fast ends the Thursday before the exchange.
Will decide later on offering but I'm intrigued by comparing 3 different chocolate chip cookies at the moment. At some point I will do it.

I'm in plus 1. Since my bread baking skills are better than my dessert baking skills, I'm thinking something dessert-ish like maybe orange dinner rolls. If that is ok.

Sounds good to me. Can I assume that the +1 is R?

I just went back to the first exchange post and realized that was also in March, so this is the 5th anniversary of the very first Dessert Exchange. I am also the last surviving original member. Where'd everybody go?

Unless something goes terribly wrong, I'm making California Avocado Cake with Raspberry Filling and Lime Buttercream. But I'm sure as shit not decorating it like the photo.

Pie Lady, if I can find someplace that is open on Sunday, and carries Atomic Cake, I'll try to bring one to the dessert exchange.

Exchangers, I'm not planning to cheat by searching for Atomic Cake. I will also bring my home baked orange rolls to the exchange. :D

Let me know if you can find an atomic cake. If not, I can pick one up at the Busy bee bakery on Saturday but I probably would have to order it ahead of time.

I will be bringing French yogurt cake. I am experimenting with a cake that is lower in fat and a little healthier than the typical cakes I bring.

Just posted in the Atomic Cake thread. It sounds like Pete's Fresh Market carries Atomic Cake slices, so since I have a Pete's in my neighborhood, I'll check and if they have it, pick up a slice or two for us to sample.

That is the day before Easter which could prove troublesome for some of us.

Ooh, that's also during Passover, which is probably an issue for everyone who is okay with meeting the day before Easter :) Unfortunately, I already have something going on for April 26, so maybe April just isn't going to work for meeting on a Saturday. I did realize that after May, I will be finished with most of my work on Sundays, so I totally understand if you want to keep meeting on Sunday, and I'll just join back up in June when I can.

Any day could work for me but I hope we can keep dessert exchange on sundays at the same time. I would not mind changing to a Saturday once and a while. The day before easter is bad because many of us are cooking and cleaning in preparation of family visits.

i'm afraid i was the one who suggested a one time change to saturday, just so laura could participate. ingrid, toria, laura and i were at iris arbor's mardi gras party and the subject of the dessert exchange came up. april 19 does not sound like it'll be a good day. why don't we just keep sundays on the schedule as usual and laura can rejoin when she can this summer?
in other news, my participation tomorrow has become tentative-i'm so sorry. i'm not feeling great, and won't come if i'm not better in the morning. i'll post then. i'll be very disappointed if i can't make it….
