This sounds like it's going to be another magnificent holiday event... thanks for all your work to make it happen!
FOOD DRIVE INFOThank you so much for again sponsoring a food drive for the hungry folks of Chicago. I'm working with A Just Harvest/Good News Church food pantry, a distributor for the Greater Chicago Food Depository. All donations that are nonperishable and unopened are warmly welcomed, but there are a few items that would be especially appreciated:
• Peanut butter
• Pasta
• Macaroni and cheese
• Rice
• Other dried grains
• Canned vegetables
• Canned fruits
• Canned chicken/fish/meat
• Canned soup or soup mix
• Beans
When in doubt, go for proteins. Tuna, chili, stew, peanut butter... the most dense, filling, nutritious things will give you (and our clients) the most bang for your buck. Speaking of bucks... if you'd rather donate via a check instead of going shopping, your donation will be applied to the most urgent needs (make checks out to Greater Chicago Food Depository; your donation is tax-deductible).
Thank you all for your kindness and generosity. I'm always so touched by the way we share our good fortune with others during this time of celebration and wonder. It's a genuine honor to do this each year. Please let me know if you have any questions, and I can't wait to see you in a few weeks!

"I give you Chicago. It is no London and Harvard. It is not Paris and buttermilk. It is American in every chitling and sparerib. It is alive from tail to snout." -- H.L. Mencken
