We're Back! It's time to round up the Usual Suspects for an outdoor lunch gathering. Pita Inn needs no introduction here in LTH World. The plant-based kefta kebab gets recent raves by a certain LTHNLG member. Let's check it out.

Oy, all of the other Pita Inn locations are closer.

I can make it, but I'll have to duck out to my car for a short meeting at 1PM.
I'll get there early and try to snag an outdoor table or two.

    Hi,

I will be there, that is Wheeling, unless location changes again. :D

I'm vaccinated, so I'll try it. The original location was Dempster? or are there more than 3 now? IMHO this is (was) the least crowded location so a good choice.

Has anybody driven by lately? How crowded does it run? Should this be made earlier (before the crowd), or later (after crowd has left)? Or should we have a plan B to go elsewhere?

I'm told that there's quite a few tables outside plus some lawn area. Bring a chair or blanket.

Seeing this topic made me happy because it is a harbinger of a return to life somewhat as it used to be. BTW, I am vaccinated.

Sitting in the car to eat is an evergreen plan B. :D

I've never eaten outside there. Before the What Have You, their inside dining could be quite crowded at lunch time (but Niles/Glenview has not been crowded in the last couple months when I've done takeout at lunch).

There is a nice strip of lawn -- bring a picnic blanket, I know I will.

I've got a work Zoom call, so I'm out. When will the work Zoom calls end? Interested to hear how it goes.

I will bring my Monopoly coupons, in case any are of interest.

If you don't want your shutterfly, I might have use for some of them.

All who got bread coupons, I only got one for the entire season. :(

Welcome back! I will be returning to Chicago in July. I hope to join you then. This is great news. I trust that we will have a Tarte Tatin picnic in August.

Looking forward to seeing you, Ed. Has the pandemic quieted your 'Starsky & Hutch' driving tendencies? Or will your driving time from Gurnee to Wheeling be six minutes?

    Post #20 - May 10th, 2021, 9:01 am Post #20 - May 10th, 2021, 9:01 am
Actually, J, during the pandemic lockdown, the number of cars on the road was significantly reduced allowing higher speeds. Illinois State Police reported ticketing more cars for speeds over 100 mph than ever before.

Your reaction to my driving may be because you're just not used to higher-speed driving. I'll bet some of our LTH friends like nsxtasy or budrichard would be comfortable riding with me since they've done some high-speed driving on racetracks as I have. I was reminded of you in this scene from the 2019 movie: Ford v Ferrari: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBd2XOBNElM where Carroll Shelby takes Henry Ford II for a demonstration ride in the new Ford GT racecar Shelby built to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Google Maps tells me that Pita Inn is 21.3 miles from my home and should take 26 minutes. I'm pretty sure I'll beat that but six minutes is unreasonable.

I'll invite you to ride with me if our Esteemed Coordinator schedules a luncheon at a place like Colony House in Trevor WI or Wells Brothers Pizza in Racine this Summer so we can really get rolling. I think you'll learn to enjoy that warm wet feeling in your pants.

    Ed

Using an abundance of caution, I'm planning on not sharing food, is that OK? It's cheap enough there I can just order everything I like and take home the extra, saving a separate day of "carry out" to support local restaurants. Do they still have the lunch specials?

PS I don't like the reverse chronology of the new LTHForum, too confusing when missing replies to previous comments, and probably will be much easier to respond with something "silly" missing earlier comment, or getting confused with them out of order.

And I don't think I was notified of others' comments, as I had requested.

Any Korean BBQ places move some tables outdoors yet?

Is there a way to return to former behavior for one person?
