We've been managing a toddler with a fractured foot, who is now (seemingly) on the tail end of croup, so I'm not sure that we'll make it tomorrow. If we get it together to come and everyone is healthy, I'm thinking about bringing paletas from Michoacana or something from Chiu Quon bakery.

Really hope you can make it Laura but as you said, only if everyone in your group is well. The same should apply to everyone who plans to attend. If you or anyone in your group is not feeling well, please be considerate and stay home. No one wants to get sick unnecessarily and with us sharing food, the likelihood is higher than it would otherwise be at an outdoor gathering.

    Thanks,

    Hiya All,

Due to years(!) of pandemic, including my own bout of Covid, I was fairly conflicted about attending this year's Picnic. So, I held off posting.

Today I was amused to see REB's post about bringing Will specials--an LTH Picnic personal tradition for me to supply in appetizer-sized form, going back a number of years in a row, as Cathy2 and others will certainly attest. (Does that make me "retro" also, Ronna? Say it loud: "I'm Retro and Proud!")

Well, I of course don't have a "lock" on bringing those and I'm pleased to see the tradition honoring YourPalWill continuing--with or without my direct involvement.

I am inclined to put it a guest appearance on Sunday, and will see if I can shepherd something similar and/or consonant from Rivera Italian Imported Foods to the Picnic, appetizer-wise.

Hi, Matt. Glad you plan to join today.

We found ourselves flat-footed yesterday and were surprised that one of our very favorite LTH picnic traditions was unaccounted for. We couldn't let that happen!

this will be only thebsecond picnic that I've missed. I left the house with my bucket of punch and my roasted fig polenta cakes and had to turn back because of stomach problems. So sad to miss all the people, much more so than missing the food.…(I look forward to pictures of the food)

This was so fun! Big “thanks” to Ronnie for organizing. As I told EvA, I loved her cheese spread. I think it reminded me of something from my childhood. I brought some home and can’t wait to spread it on a toasted English Muffin for breakfast.
Audrey discovered that she LOVES lumpia. Jonathan had his first taste of a Will Special. The Tiki bike was amazing. Low kid turnout, but for the 4 that participated it was a memorable piñata. Audrey was very excited to come home and fill-up her candy jar. Too many delicious things to mention them all….

Thanks but I didn't do very much. Our group requires little or no direction. Buy the permit and the rest really takes care of itself -- with some additional assistance from JoelF, mbh, glennpan (and Andrea) and Jazzfood. Everyone's contributions are what makes it special and wonderful, especially after a couple of years off. It really was a terrific day. Happily, the threat of rain turned out to be nothing more than just a threat. The weather was great.

    Thanks!

Thank you Maribeth, for all you did to help get the picnic off the ground. It was very kind of you and very much appreciated.

As for a holiday party, many people mentioned it to me at the picnic, so I think it's a great idea. We're kicking around a few ideas and I've started a thread here:
