I really wanted to get over to Sweet Willie's gala at the Schaumburg location of Eggholic. Since my plans got derailed, why not host my own gala? Please join the Usual Suspects for some eggy delights. As always, bring a friend.

Wednesday is a work day for me, so I won't be able to join you.

I was there Monday and ordered the Amdavadi Touch sandwich. No eggs, but the favorite item I've gotten there so far. Try one if you haven't already.

That weird construction on the north side of the parking lot is done and paved over. I'm guessing some structural issue under the parking lot?

Yes, the menu at this joint looks enticing to say the least. If it's good, it might put the nasty rumors to rest that the EC has lost his marbles, that he needs to be put out to pasture, that the porch light's on but no one's home...

You may want to read more posts about this destination restaurant, because it is quite good.

Alternatively, you can search for egg* (limiting to subject lines) and find the thread easily.

They've changed their name a few times, so it's hard to keep the subject line up to date.

Thanks for the tip! It was part of today's group ordering and was a wonderful choice.

Right. Between Giovanna & then the great pics and comments from Lord Ronnie of Suburban, the 7 of us were able to maneuver through the choices.

I would say almost everything was a hit. We did ask for spiciness to be ramped down--which I know displeased Joel, but he's a good sort and went along. Yes, one of the hits was the Amdavadi Touch sandwich, every bit an egg salad club sandwich with Indian spices. That spice level was a 5 or better, but excellent overall.

Also sampled lachko, surti gotalo, masala half/full fry, egg bhurji & green egg rice, along with another sandwich--the anda masala, which was only fair. But the others were solid & pretty much unlike other Indian cuisine I've had. According to Cynthia, she thinks the food here reflects northern India. Complex & intriguing would be two words I'd use.

'Twould be great to see the pics that were taken. Oh, by the way, I became an immediate addict to the desi chai tea. Light & totally warming on a cold, fall day. I got a second one for the road, and now am committed to trying it at home.

I agree that all the dishes were quite good, and interesting - totally unlike the conventional Indian food that I've had, for example along Devon Avenue.

    Here's what we had today:

Masala Half/Full Fry - Indian style sunny side up with veggie & spices
    Image
Lachko - Shredded green bell pepper cooked with cheese & running eggs
    Image
Egg Bhurji - Scrambled eggs with veggies & spices
    Image
Surti Gotalo - Shredded hard-boiled eggs mixed with sunny side up in our special house spices
    Image
Anda Masala - Egg Grill Sandwiches - Flavored eggs & veggies
    Image
Green Egg Rice - Mint flavored egg rice with a tadka of mustard seeds & curry leaves
    Image
Amdavadi Touch - Grill Sandwiches - Mashed potato, veggies & Indian sauces
    Image
Roti - bread, came with several of the dishes
    Image
Mango Lassi - beverage (no photo)
Desi Chai - beverage (no photo)

    Nice pictorial, nsxtasy--

Just finished leftovers that I had brought home Wednesday, the green egg rice and the surti gotalo, the latter just amazing me with its complex taste profile each bite.
