LTHNLG - Kaiser's Pizza - 11/16 - 11:30am

Time for a return to LTH North Lunch Group's favorite pizza joint. Kaiser's menu proclaims their pizza as "The World's Most Perfect Food." Please join us on the 16th for some jovial conversation and awesome pizza. Hopefully someone will remember to bring a coupon.

It ain't much to look at, but Kaiser's serves up the best well-done sausage/green pepper pizza this side of Wells Bros. in Racine. It reminds me of circa 1970 mom-and-pop pizza joints like Biasetti's on Touhy in Lincolnwood or Pinocchio's Pizza on Main St. in Skokie. Actually Martino's on Peterson & Drake is similar as well. It's a crunchy, crackery, slightly greasy bite that will burn the roof of your mouth if you eat it too soon.

I'm looking forward to this! I haven't been out much lately; work day and night, but I'm blocking this date out. Really looking forward to that sausage and green pepper pizza again.

I swear one of these days I'll show up to one of these things. Unfortunately I have a prior commitment that morning at 11 though if I can change it I may be able to make this meet up so I'll let you know. I really like Kaiser's in Gurnee too. One of the best if not the best thin pizzas in Lake County. Donelli's Pub in Lake Bluff serves Kaiser's and I have had many pizzas there on my open mic nights over the last 10 years.

Ok, I will bite: open mike comedy? Singing?

I have passed Donelli's many times and never thought to go in. I see from their menu they feature Poeta's Italian sausage. There is no branding to their pizza, though clearly you know the source.

Well we can discuss it further next week because I am in! Add me to the list as I plan on being at my first LTHNLG event.

Open mike aka open jam (as our former host called it). Basically 2 electric guitars, 1 bass and a drummer at all times with two microphones for whoever in the band or the room wants to sing with whoever is playing. I play guitar and bass (and drums in a pinch). I will typically sing harmony and lead vocals if I feel like it (I wish I could sing as well as I play).

Hi, Probably a stupid question but how does it work with these meet ups? Everyone shares a few pizzas or do people sometimes get their own or it just depends on the moment when we are all seated?
