Decided to go Old School for the December edition of the LTHNLG. Maybe we can recreate the classic LTH get-together from 2018, including the infamous episode
of dividing the check. Who knows? Regardless, please join us on the 12th for my favorite egg rolls and other Cantonese goodies.

I hear that one can tell when a magistrate is about to abdicate his throne when he plays all his cards towards the end of his reign, brings out the tried & true.

China Chef is one of those. Haven't been in at least 10 years, but when working in Skokie, when I had business associates in from out of town, we'd nip on over to CC for a lunch special. Hot & sour soup is stellar, and at least then there were more than 20 choices of lunch specials, none more than $7.50. As one Wisconsin colleague remarked to me, 'How do they do it?!"

Inflation & Covid may have spiked the prices a little, but I would imagine it's still a decided value. I remember the Filipino-based pancit guisado as very tasty. Yes, Joel, spicings are generic for the multitudes of septo & octogenarians that frequent CC. But I seem to remember GWiv scoring some hot spicy oil from CC at one point.

So, EC, I'm in...as soon as I quash the plans for a poisoning of sorts. Not needed now.

    Hi,

You can keep the Hot & Sour Soup, I adore the Won Ton Soup with bits of BBQ pork in the soup.

I also really like the egg rolls, too.

    Yeah, I will be there.

    Regards,

Aww man, I'd really like to join you, but the next phase of the system I've been working on the last year goes live that morning... I'm not going to be able to escape... Especially as I was on vacation when the previous phase went live.

I don't know yet whether I can make it. However, I should reiterate that, as I posted in the LTH topic about China Chef, their Mongolian beef is "consistently outstanding".

How's the pizza there? I was just talking to my brother about going there very recently (of course on a Tuesday when they were closed). Unfortunately I cannot make it next month. I had a great time at Kaiser's, thanks for setting it up Dave.

Just had an opportunity to follow nsxtasy's link to the original China Chef thread. Two things--the amusing (and somewhat inane) discussion of what constitutes 'Jewish-American Chinese Food'...and then second, reading stevez's posts, which made me sad all over again. Such a nice guy.

I love China Chef and it's very close to my office. I was hoping to join but it'd be a game-time decision. Just have to see how things go on Monday morning before I know for sure. Is that okay? If not, understood. Thanks.
