Evanston Lunch Group™ 2/13 @ Blue Horse Tavern

In deciding a venue for February’s Evanston Lunch Group™, we opted to go with one that was offering deals under the North Shore Restaurant Month program. The participants were listed alphabetically. Having a short attention span, I only got as far as the Bs.

Thus, we’ll be meeting at Blue Horse Tavern. It’s the latest offering from the group that also runs Lulu’s Dim Sum and Then Some, Taco Diablo, and Five and Dime — all fun joints, not necessarily best in class, but reliably competent.

Street parking is usually not too tough. Worst case, Evanston’s large Sherman Plaza parking garage (821 Davis) is about 2 1/2 blocks away.

I like them; I've been going to Lulu's for years, and have enjoyed Five & Dime several times since our LTH lunch on the patio there in June 2021, our first get-together after the start of the pandemic. Also note that these three restaurants are all located at the same location - I'm guessing one kitchen for all three - and there is some overlap among their menus.

Evanston is strict in enforcing parking regulations. There is metered parking (via pay boxes) on Davis and north of there; there is free two-hour parking south of Davis on Oak and on Grove (two sides of the block containing Blue Horse Tavern).

Count me in.
