Based on recommendations from Cathy2, and Cynthia’s comments in this thread, some of us will be going to the Uzbek restaurant Tandoor Samsa in Buffalo Grove.

One of Cynthia’s comments was that Tandoor Samsa would be best experienced with a group. So, let’s get a group together Sunday, October15, for a good ol’ fashioned group LTH dinner. Ideally, it’ll be shared family-style, although if some want to order independently, that works, too.

A few of us might be exchanging foods to take home, in the spirit of the Small Household Food Exchange — anyone’s welcome to exchange (details in this thread), but no one’s required or expected to exchange.
The true point is LTH camaraderie, sharing food and food stories, and smiling and eating … and smiling and eating … and smiling and eating … you get the idea.

Join us Sunday, October 15, 6 pm! (But please let us know a day or so ahead, so we can give the restaurant a heads-up on the numbers and we can know of any exchangers.)

    So far:

Yes, this will be an old-time LTH adventure. For those who wish to learn what LTH was like when we used to have group dinners in obscure locales, sharing obscure cuisine (although surely not to our Central Asian friends!). An Uzbeki restaurant in a suburban strip mall is just the thing. And with ordering power, you will taste a range of Silk Road dishes. Plov at its best.

So if you would like LTH to be a social site with surprising flavors, this is your chance.

    Count me in.

    I plan to attend.

I will also exchange food with anyone else who cares to.

I may have to move some things around, but at present, I'm planning on being there.

    Hi,

I am bringing oyster mushroom paprikash in a plastic freezer bag.

If you wish for plastic container parity, I will bring a clean one for you.

Sue and I would love to join, we weren't sure we'd be home in time from our trip but it looks like we will now.

Tandoor Samsa's phone and online reservation system seems to be down. I'll keep trying — watch this space to see if the reservation goes through. I'll update as I know more.

Due to continuing problems with both phone and online reservations, we'll move the dinner .7 miles to HD Cuisine at 6:15 (LTH posts about it). I'll hang out for a while near Tandoor Samsa for anyone who doesn't see this post in time.

Happily, all worked out, and we had a splendid dinner at Tandoor Samsa. Good food, excellent company -- and enough ordering power to try a substantial part of the menu.
