Louisa Chu was lamenting the close of Seven Treasures, then promised a review on Wonton Gourmet sometime soon. When I checked out Wonton Gourmet's website their online menu highlighted a number of items akin to those at Seven Treasures.

This thread on Wonton Gourmet began in 2006 offers an important nugget of information: the daughter of the Seven Treasurers owner is married to the owner of Wonton Gourmet. In this thread they mentioned Wonton Express (RIP) in Riverwoods that I always thought was very much like Seven Treasures and my hunch was right.

Ideally, our gatherings are shared family-style, although if some want to order independently, that works, too.

A few of us might be exchanging foods to take home, in the spirit of the Small Household Food Exchange — anyone’s welcome to exchange (details in this thread), but no one’s required or expected to exchange.

The true point is LTH camaraderie, sharing food and food stories, and smiling and eating … and smiling and eating … and smiling and eating … you get the idea.

Join us Sunday, November 12, 5:30 pm (But please let us know a day or so ahead, so we can give the restaurant a heads-up on the numbers and we can know of any exchangers.)

    So far:
Cathy2 + exchange (Iowa ham balls)
    nr706 + 1 exchange
    moetchandon (educated guess)
GAF (because it was already discussed)
    Giovanna
    CookieMonster
    Dave148 + Merle

Yes. I will be there. Hopefully there will be several new faces.

I used to eat here occasionally when I was freelancing for McDonald's creative services (in the old Hamburger U building) and have been wanting to get back.

In for one, not going to exchange.

I’m in for dinner. Tom’s plus one is me. He’s not bringing anyone else, he’s stuck with me.

    Hi,

We are now 10 people, so let's cut it off at 12. Two seats for two lucky people are there for the asking!

For the exchange, I am making another version of Iowa Ham Balls.

It was October last year when nr706 made some, so I now reciprocate.

Should we have dueling ham balls? I still have some left in the freezer. Otherwise, I was thinking of a Creole Alligator Galette.

Either one works for me, because it is all good.

Pre-Thanksgiving sales, I defrosted and cooked a ham so I am refreshing inventory.

My ground pork is from a friend's family pork operation in South Dakota.

When I was in Tel Aviv some time ago, I ordered "beef balls." It took some time to figure out what they were. As the name suggests ...

We have 10 reserved so far, so I will call the day before with any adjustment to the numbers.
